Hi
I wonder if anyone can offer some advice and suggestions. My family and I are coming to Acharavi for 2 weeks in July. Having never been before (to either Acharavi or Corfu ) we are looking for suggestions of places to eat, visit or avoid etc. Also any advice on where we can get access to free wifi would be greatfully recieved. We are also big motor sports fans and know that the Formula one is on when we are there, is there any local bars that show sports. I would be grateful if anyone could offer advice and suggestions so that we can make this a memorable trip Many thanks in advance carol |

This is an easy one.
Welcome to the forum. Wi Fi is available all over the place, just buy a drink or snack they will load the password for you. I would never give a negative report for anywhere, that's after all subjective. I will give you our favourites though, there are 3 grill rooms all very good and inexpensive, We particularly like Binelikia meze tavern at the Roda end of town good music night, The Pumphouse in the centre of town opposite the pump roundabout (would you believe), Scondros on the beach, and Zefyros in Almyros just up the road. We like Tet a Tet bar and next door Central Bar for their music night particularly. There are loads of others to choose from, make your own list of favourites. If you want a day out, have a chat with Sue at Castaway Travel, I particularly enjoy the moonlight boat trip to Corfu town on the Captain Arris boat, it goes from Imerolia, but includes bus pickups along the way. There is a nice water park named Hydropolis just out of town, not huge but good fun. You can walk along the beach in either direction for a few miles, or if serious, inland, but take plenty of water with you. Many of the hotels and apartments allow casual visitors to use their pool for free, you just have to buy drinks from their bar, all very relaxed. Bob. |

You've made a good choice in booking Acharavi Carol.
My suggestions would be Orpheus, Adonis, and Hovoli as bars with wi-fi.
Adonis and Orpheus also show most sports so you can probably get your F1 fix there.
As Bob has already mentioned, there are some fantastic places to eat. We always enjoy Faros on the beach, Pumphouse, and if you hire a car you can venture into Kassiopi/New Perithia and enjoy tavernas there too. There is also a lovely walk along the beach to Roda which we often do on an evening.
Anyway, my recommendation is to try for yourself. Haven't got a bad word to say about the place.
Anjoy and Yammas!

As to tavernas our favourite was the Lighthouse, (Faros) on the beach you can spot it by the tall depiction of a lighthouse!!
We watched F1 at the bar on the main road on the corner of one of the roads leading down to the beach. It is the road which has the olive wood studios in it. There may be others but that one has a large screen. |

Hi
Thanks for all the advice. I have been doing a lot of internet searching and have read lots of good reviews about the Pumphouse so we will definately give that a try. We have hired a car and so look forward to visiting a few places you have mentioned. And will most definately try out the bars you have mentioned for our F1 fix. We are very excited about or first visit to Corfu and cant wait to explore but its nice to get a few ideas before hand of where to try. Carol

A very nice walk is heading east from Acharavi to St. Spiridon along the
coastline. You have beach and woods there including a very nice path
over rocks if you head left at the crossing after the bridge. Ending in
St. Spiridon or returning to Acharavi the same way you have many
Tavernas to have a break, including the kinda famous "George", which I
highly recommend you visit.
Here a little picture from the stoney path I mentioned: ![]() |

If you do have a car then a trip to Perithia (not the old Perithia) is a must for and evening meal. It is just off the main road to the right before the big bend
We like the least likely looking one on the right as you come into the village, looks very modern and large but the food is to die for and very cheap. All the locals use it so that says a lot. You get free breads and dips to start and free water and a free dessert to boot!! |

I can also recommend the Pyramid Restaurant in St. Spyridon. Quality food and luxury dining room!
For more info you can have a look on their website : www.corfupyramid.com

Sorry Carol, that won't happen.
It is the nature of things that the next 14 weeks will drag and drag, but the 2 weeks you are in Corfu on holiday will zip by in a flash. We will be around in Acharavi while you are there, if you feel like saying hello, just ask Alex or Dora in Tet a Tet if we are there. Have a great time. Bob |

Agree Bob those 2 weeks will be just a blink of the eye. If I can say that Acharavi to us is just the best. All the lovely people on here have given you great recommendations, which I totally agree with but there are others to try as well. Acharavi has everything you require and more in just 1 main street and all their lovely roads down to the beach. We also will be there when you are and are usually in Adonis mid to late afternoon. Great place to people watch and meet others. Enjoy

Try Woodys on the beach for lunch, Akis the owner is such a lovely guy and if he's not too busy he will have a chat with you. If you're a Greek salad fan he does the best I've ever had. We travelled from the South of the island just to see him a couple of years ago and we got such a warm welcome. The food there is really fresh and delicious. Also Maistro on the beach was lovely to watch the sunsets at and the squid was great. We didn't have a bad meal, so like everyone else has said try everywhere and make your own mind up. With two weeks you've got plenty of opportunity to go back to your favs a few times!

Forgot to say - Corfu is an amazing island, be prepared for it to get under your skin and for you not to want to go anywhere else on holiday ever again!!!
