Hi guys
I'm planning our holidays for the year, our favourite place to go is Lakka in Paxos.
I've been looking at photo's of Kassiopi and it looks like our kind of place, however I scratched it off the short list last year as I was worried it seemed a bit to "Brits abroad" for our tastes.
We like, long mornings on the balcony, snorkelling and lazing on the beach followed by a nice spinach & feta pie from the bakery for a late lunch, a few beers on the balcony early evening followed by cocktails & snacks in the village and a traditional taverna evening meal.
We like to hire a scooter for a day or two to explore the area, and a motor boat for a day so that other half an pretend he's a pirate! (I keep offering to saw his leg off to make it more realistic
![]() We don't like kareoke, tribute acts, bingo, pizza & burger joints - well not in Greece anyway, at an English seaside resort it's fine!
Thanks in advance...sell it to me!

The bit that hits me is Karaoke bars and they certainly have those in Kassiopi, together with loud music bars and Large TV screens everywhere. It is the one thing about Kassiopi I do not like
There are some lovely tavernas though away from the 'noise' and yes it is a bit British in terms of. visitors. Everything else on your wish list is there!!! There are many little beaches with excellent snorkeling although mostly pebbles To be honest Avlaki, although not obviously so. might suit you better, quiet beach tavernas at night, away from any noisy bars which are really only on the main road through the town. Not sure boat hire is available there though Both have excellent bakers bakers for your cheese pies but for the best, baked to order, try the tavernas at Old Perithia!!! |

Avlaki has Dimitri's Boats to hire, plus Jan's sailing dingys and Toppers for a complete change.

San Stephanos (north east, and just down the coast from Kassiopi) might be more to your liking as it has a similar feel to Lakka.

Every thing you like, you can find in Kassiopi. As for karaoke, music bars yes there a some but not that many. Loud yes, but only if you are in them. Kassiopi is a place once you have been you want to go back. I'm sure almost every one who has been to Kassiopi will agree. |

Thanks guys
Elliemay - I think I'd been told Arrilas wasn't great for snorkelling? That's a must or other half will go round the twist!
SusieH - I don't mind the kareoke bars as long as I can avoid them, I don't want it to be our only option. I have looked at Avlaki but that may be a bit too quiet, we do like a bit of variety.
MartynG - you don't see much about San Stef NE everyone always mentions San Stef NW as being better, why is that?
Davyboy - Other half is really keen on Kassiopi after I showed him the Bliss website, I just dont want to end up in mini Blackpool, each to their own but it's just not our idea of a relaxing holiday. Are the Karaoke bars etc easily avoided?
I quite like the look of Frosini gardens.

Its a long level stretch in the middle, but there's a peninsula to the north at San Stefanos and the double-sided bay of Afionas to explore at the southern end. He'll just have to walk a bit first. |

Nardine,
We had a week in Coyevinas last year (between Kassiopi and Avlaki) and it was great as we could walk either way and pick and choose the type of night we wanted. We don't like busy bars, more traditional tavernas, and there are plenty to choose from. We are returning to Corfu this year and have chosen Kassiopi, it is busier and larger than some resorts, but really good choice too. Avlaki had two amazing tavernas which you could always walk / taxi out to for a change in scenery. We then had a week in San Stefanos (NE). We thought it would be a nice change. We felt very lucky to have experienced both resorts. Both have a lot to offer. Lovely tavernas, two cocktail bars and two minimarkets. Can also walk down to Kerasia beach for a long lazy lunch at the taverna on the beach. Good luck choosing, isn't it great to be able to have such hard decisions to make?!?!?

It's nothing like a mini Blackpool. Don't know where you get that idea from. Are the Karaoke bars easily avoided, YES. Check this out. http://www.agni.gr/holiday-forum/our-trip-to-kassiopi-19th-april-3rd-may-2013_topic2290.html |

I believe Arrillas is a sandy beach so not great for snorkelling. Have you looked at Kalami - has all on your wish list and only one karaoke/music bar (not noisy and does not continue late). Pebble beach makes it great for snorkelling and just 15 minutes to Kassiopi.

Hi Nardine. As Davyboy says, Kassiopi is NOTHING like a mini Blackpool, in fact it's the opposite. All but 2 of the businessesin the village are Greek. There are 2 karaoke bars one of which doesn't start till elevenish. We like a quiet holiday in small resorts & this year will be our 26th visit. It's like going home for us. I am convinced you will enjoy your stay & want to return. It's like a drug.

I know Kassiopi is very popular but its the amount of bars with large televisions that put me off - when I go out I prefer to talk and find that even when you try to ignore it the TV it is there and often too loud. I do like Kassiopi in the quieter months though as it has a completely different feel. Nadine when are you visiting.

Joefish - Thanks for the info re Arillas and snorkelling.
Marietot - Thank you for the ideas.
Davyboy - I didn't think Kassiopo was a mini Blackpool I was just trying to explain what we don't like, thank you for the link
Sue Avrio - I looked at Kalami last year too seemed it may be a bit too quiet, I am picky aren't I??? We're looking at mid June or mid to late September, so think it may be a bit quieter eh?
Big Alan - Thanks for the info, I'm think from everyone's descriptions we will probably like it, but I'm a miser with my holiday time, so I like to make sure I get it right, I'd be gutted if we picked the wrong place for us!
Thanks everyone for taking the time to answer me

Nothing wrong with being fussy Nardine. Agree that Kassiopi would be quieter in June or September. Enjoy!!

We have been to Kassiopi several times and haven't been in a Karaoke bar or watched big screen television. There are plenty of other bars/restaurants to visit.
We go June or September, haven't been in July/August as neither of us like it too hot. |

I know what you mean about being a miser with your annual leave- we don't get much either! We initially thought people who returned to the same holiday destination were crazy, but it's our 4th time in Kassiopi this summer- we've defiantly caught the 'Kassiopi Bug'! Each holiday is what you make of it, and there are some karaoke bars, but they aren't in your face, and are easy to avoid, and as others have said, there are far more places which aren't like this!

Hi Nardine June or September are perfect times to be in Corfu as there will be lots of wild spring flowers around on the hillsides and the weather isn't too hot. (The hot summer weather usually breaks down from mid August will thunderstorms, but has settled down again by early September, so there is a"second spring") To give you a resort comparison, I would equate Kassiopi with Gaios, whereas San Stephanos (n/e) is more like Lakka, although it doesn't have the square - instead, it's spread along the seafront. I guess the reason why Stephanos (n/e) doesn't get the coverage on here that is afforded to the resort on the west coast is that it tends to be a bit more expensive and, perhaps, isn't quite so suitable for young families. (That said, both of our boys - boys? - they are now 21 and 26 respectively! have grown up with the village having both visited almost every year since they were born). |

Aww thanks guys, I'm only just getting to know the Islands really, been to Paxos twice & Corfu once, love both places but we're on a budget both financially & holiday leave from work, so I have to be picky.
You have sold Kassiopi to me, now I've just got to find the right price.
![]() MartynG - I described it to other half as looking a bit like Gaios, glad I was right.

Have a look on Travel Republic as they do what looks really good packages. You can also choose a number of local airports which saves having to search time and time again. If you have any accommodation queries I am sure the helpful, knowledgeable people on here will help, but beware they all have their favorites, so some bias maybe shown
