Good morning all.. Hope everyone is keeping warm and dreaming of Corfu!
Has anyone booked for Easter yet?
We are keeping an eye on flights, but waiting to see if Ryanair bring flights out for Easter. Usually travel with them in April, but they are only showing flights from May, just yet!
Can`t wait to get all booked, as its` something to look forward to, when the winter sets in here!!

Hi Alison,
We are waiting for the Leeds/Bradford or Manchester flights with Ryanair!
At the moment it says they start their flights 1st May, but they usually keep their April flights until later, then put them on sale.
Easyjet seem quite expensive for that time of year!     Wink
Keep calm and think of Corfu!

We normally fly April from Glasgow/ Prestwick for Easter but this year they are not flying till May so we had to book from Edinburgh.  I don't think they will bring in earlier flights - just cutting the season shorter - stopping a week earlier at the end of the season as well from Prestwick. Cry  Good prices though.

Hiya Olympus,
I had been thinking about Messongh  Moraitika at Easter (never experienced a Greek Easter), but have been told that Messonghi area is totally closed down at that time. Would you know if enough would be open to last us a few days, and if buses run regularly into Corfu Town?

Thanks,
Jackie

Hi Jackie,
Easter in Messonghi/Moraitika is lovely! But, you would find it very quiet, if you are only used to going in high season. Nothing much would be open in Messonghi, maybe 3k's supermarket, but not sure.
Moraitika is a little busier. Popeyes is open for meals, by the roundabout. There are a few bars open in Moraitika, that are open all year round.
Buses run quite regularly, up until the main Easter days, when there are big celebrations in town.
Benitses have a nice `Easter Saturday` evening celebration, with fireworks, if you don`t want to travel into town.
Supermarkets are open in Moraitika, Dimitra, Coop, etc.. but close Saturday lunchtime.
One or two of the tavernas in Boukari are open and it's lovely to sit there, by the sea, before the tourist season starts! If you are wanting somewhere buzzing with life it's not going to happen, but a laid-back, Messonghi/Moraitika, just awakening from their winter hibernation, is worth experiencing..   Smile
Keep calm and think of Corfu!

Hi Olympus ,
Would you know if there are any Easter Services (Orthodox ) in Messonghi/Moraitika? Apart from the Catholic church on the main road, the only other one I have noticed is the little church on the way up to Hlomatiana village.
Thankyou,

Jackie

Hi Jackie, most of the Greek Orthodox churches have Easter services. Moraitika is nice, up in the old village. They hold a service Easter Saturday evening, then people congregate outside the church.
Benitses is nice too. They have singing and fireworks.
If you are on the beach at midnight in Messonghi or Moraitika, you can see the fireworks in Corfu town.   Smile
Keep calm and think of Corfu!
