Hi, I use Avon skin so soft (original, not the pink one) or Avon summer fresh, shower gel. Then, just before leaving the accommodation for a night out, I put on Xpel mozzie repellent. If you have a B & M store near you, its` very cheap there. Last years price was about £1.59 and it lasts me 3 weeks.
Haven`t had a problem since using these.. Hope this helps !

A product called Mossie Milk (OK for children to use as well) around ankles and on arms - this seems to deal with it. It can be bought on the internet.

My other half now takes antihistamine tablets for a week before and during our trips to Corfu - has certainly cut down on number and severity of the mozzie bites.  Also dont be tempted to wear any perfumes or after shaves in the evenings ... they love all that Cool
Until the next time ......I love you Corfu

Boots aftersun with insect repellent is good. I have quite a bad reaction when I get bitten and have found this works for me, also taking the antihistimines. Heard lots about the Avon Skin So Soft but I never see an Avon Lady Cry

Hi,
I find Avon skin so soft is OK during the day, but I think that if the mossies love you, you will still get some bites.
I also use Lemon Source shower gel and that seems to work if you are going out of an evening.
I am convinced though, no matter what you do, if they like you you cannot escape completely. There again I don't like the Deet repellents so tend to go for the more natural ones.

I think the most important thing is that what ever product you use make sure you spray or pour it into your hand first and really rub it into your skin. If you think of it as suncream it is the same principal i.e if you just dab it on a few spots or spray without rubing in you are very likely to get burnt. Seems to work for us!

I have real problem with bites ... even having to have injections when I was living and working on Corfu BUT this was only if I went out after 5pm with no repellant on.  Last year I spent 3 weeks on Corfu - used Jungle formula every evening and didn't suffer 1 bite.  I have tried most of the different repellants but always find Jungle formula the most reliable - in lotion formula.
I have never had a problem during the day and never where repellant then.
Also I always use at least two of the tablet pluggings in my room at night.

Take Vitamin B1 every day whilst you are there & for two weeks prior to going. We also use Original Source Lemon & Tea Tree shower gel, plus take Jungle Formula Tropical Stregnth. Both me & my daughter have never been bit, but the missus had a bad bite a few years ago that needed treatment (we think this happened whilst walking across the beach at night)....Make sure you have plug ins for your room also.

It's odd how some people get bitten, yet others don't. The person who finds the universal 'cure' will be worth millions.

Belts and braces me, I use everything!!

Machines in the room, insect repellant with Deet, aftersun with repellant, eat Marmite every day, take antihistamines, have a personal buzzy machine clipped to my handbag - and I still manage to get one or two bites. Altough I have to admit they are not as bad if I take these precautions, the mossie obviously take their first taste and decide it is not to their liking. I wear long sleeves and trousers or skirt at night  and no perfume

When I do get bitten I am armed with a clicky machine, antihistamine creme, anti itching cream etc etc and I carry a good supply of strong anti histamine  tablets

Nothing ever works for me 100% but unless I minimise things I know my bites will get infected

One thing to remember is that mossies are around in the day in damp places, near fresh and stagnant  water in woods, humid  towns  etc etc  Use a sun lotion with a combined insect repellant, Jungle formula do a good one.

A tip from a Greek friend is to spray inside the wardrobe/drawers before putting your clothes in, as the little blighters are often lurking in the corners, and also spray under the beds. After that, the usual precautions - plug ins/sprays/repellants. My "perfume" on Corfu is Eau de Autan! I prefer the sticks, as you can be more precise when applying them. If you do get bitten, try hydrocortisone 1%, it's supposed to be great for easing the itch. Good luck.      Moyra

Word of warning, do not use anything containing hydrocortisone  if  the skin on the top of the bite is broken. Read the packaging carefully
