We are getting very excited about our second visit to Corfu this year. We were very lucky to have an early April break in Kassiopi and will be coming out next week to stay in Avlaki. I've been looking at the forum and hearing about changes that have happened since April in Kassiopi, such as new shops and bars, so will have to check those out. Looking at the Kassiopi webcams it doesn't look as though it is very busy, although I guess British school holidays haven't started yet. We tend to spend time in Ag Stephanos, Kalami, Agni and Avlaki and wondered whether it is easy to get tables at tavernas at the moment, or whether you need to book.
Perhaps any recent returnees, or in people out there now, could let us know what its like?
Thanks.

Pretty quiet for the time of year, many hotels have plenty of rooms free even in August (normally booked by now). Tavernas not doing their usual volume of business and those clients they do have are buying cheaper meals than previously.

Thanks Jan. That's a bit worrying for all the businesses on Corfu that rely on good visitor numbers. I hope it builds up for them - replying to what you have said on another thread, you are right that a good summer in the UK does not help our friends in Greece.

Hi

We got back from Corfu on Saturday after a couple of weeks in and around Agios Stephanos and Kassiopi (as well as a few days sailing to the mainland and Paxos).

Whilst these places were not as busy as they have been in the past, I would suggest that they are busier than they were last year - certainly the tavernas/restaurants seem have more occupied tables each evening (but there is availability).

That said, the bars do appear to be quieter than might have ben the case in the past - but this can change from week to week (and even day to day!)

On the occasions that we drove through Avlaki, there seemed to be a good number of people about, although it wasn't packed.

Porta (where our house is) remains as quiet as ever, but the Panorama was doing a good trade in the evenings towards the end of our stay. (Earlier it had been very windy in the evenings and this made it a bit too cold to sit out.)

The north west, on a scale of 1 -10 with 10 being the sort of take up we used to see in the mid 80s, around 3
