Hi we are only now a few days away from coming back to Paleo, we both cant wait.
We have a villa this time with its own barbeque, can anyone tell us where nearest place to Paleo is for us to get fresh fish? If its a short or long distance no problems as we have hired a car for this trip.

Look forward to any helpful advice

Dean & Jules

Sorry, I can't help with that one. If you want meat, there is a butchers on the main road about a mile out of Paleo on the right, set back, but whether they also sell fish I don't know.
It's all Greek to me!

Hi, Jules,
There is a butcher's shop in Lakones village just down from the square. DCV (Alison) may be able to tell you if they sell fish. There is a fish shop at the traffic lights, where you would turn left for Ipsos, Kassiopi etc. Why not try Paleo harbour as it is still a working port.

Take care

Hi Tom,

I think they sell frozen fish.  But I think if you were to have a drink or a meal in Petrinos one day and ask him to get fish for you the next day to take away to your villa he would do it for you. He is a very kind guy.

Thanks Terry W Tongue I am not often full of good ideas.

Panos invited us down from Lakones a few weeks ago for lunch at his new big round family table in the taverna and served us cheese pies, dolmades, Greek salad etc. and the main event was a huge Sea Bream each. I had never tasted it before but after mastering taking the bones out I would have it again.
A couple of nights before we were given Red Mullet in Boulis - again it was given not ordered by me as I was not a fan of fish with heads on Confused but it was nice.

Hi Alison, funny you ask that not too sure, however, we have googled earth it and it seems to be on the edge along the main road running through right at the end (if you are looking at Lakones from the monastry say its on the far left?)

Villa Tango its called, and its bright orange, so hopefully we wont be able to miss it!!

We have a house in Lakones on the main road on the left hand side looking on to the monastry but I can't for the life of me figure out where your villa is.  Who did you book it through?

Looks nice and agree we are the Bella Vista end, we stumbled upon it by accident really as we tried to book the Molos Apartments in Paleo, however, after getting a price we could get hold of them to pay them so found the Napoleon next door, went to book that that they said they were full, but if we were interested they had the house up in Lakones.

As soon as we looked at Lakones we knew it was for us and luckily the price was right and deal done.

Very excited I have to say and with the car hire this time we hope to explore around.

Update - you will be our next door neighbour but one. I can see our house from your veranda.
You will love waking up there in the mornings - it is fabulous - church bells, chickens, buses and barking dogs !Tongue  Paradise.

Wow, how bizarre!!!Smile

Are you to the left or right? As we went on the Villa Tangos 360 website a while back and from both top and bottom veranda we could see a few houses.

Wonderful views I have to say.

We are on the left of your place if looking out to sea. Pinkish house with red tile roof.

You will love Lakones. You are right in the middle of the village so easy walking to the bakery, butcher, Boulis grill room,  kafeneon,  Dolce', Bella Vista, Castellio's and of course the Golden Fox pool.  Clap
Panos from Petrinos Garden in Paleo is our next door neighbour - he does great burgers and chicken curry.

Hi Jules,

It is Alison's mother (Helen) we are meeting for lunch on Sunday at the Boulis. We are walking up the donkey trail to get there.

Rather you than me Tom bad enough going down
Bit of a water problem I believe in Lakones at the moment - problems with the pump so some days Krini gets water and Lakones does not and vice versa
I would like to think that it will be sorted soon but don't hold my breath.

This is Greece!

Alison,

Don't see how that would be a problem for you and Ian. I thought the pair of you only drank wine As for washing, there is always the Golden Fox pool.
