Hello everyone - I'm looking to holiday in Corfu with my wife and two-year-old son in September. We went to Kassiopi a few years back and loved it but with a toddler in tow we are now looking for accommodation near a sandy beach and where the transfer from the airport is not too long (under one hour). Air conditioning is a must and the more comfortable the beds the better! We're looking for a relaxing break with days spent at the beach, evening meals in a taverna and a quiet night's sleep. After much research I am liking the look of Paleokastritsa and Agios Georgios North, though I am open to alternative suggestions. Can anyone recommend some toddler-friendly accommodation and are any of the beaches in Paleo particularly sandy (the little one loves playing with sand!)? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. David

May be worth looking at Arillas in the NW too. Has a lovely sandy beach, not too large and friendly, laid back feeling.
Transfer to the NW would probably be longer than an hour though if you are using the transfer bus provided by your holiday company. Would recommend paying for a taxi transfer which would be about 40-50 minutes.

I have been to Roda twice with two year olds and had a great time. Look at rodaonline for all the information you need. Ask any questions on the forum.

Been taking my daughter to Acharavi since she was 6 months old. This year we are also taking her sister who will only be 5 months old.
It has all the facilities you need including children's doctor, supermarkets, tavernas, bars, shops, beach and is in the middle of Roda and Kassiopi if you fancy a change.
Wherever you go, have a great time.

I would second Arillas. Narrow beach which is very gently shelving. A number of excellent Tavernas and family friendly.
Hotel on the Sea Front called The Marina or self contained apartments called the Marinaki. A bit more upmarket would be the Horizon. Honestly though take your pick. |

I can definitely recommend the Hotel Marina in Arillas having stayed there for two weeks last year with our daughter, son in law and their two little ones 4 and 5. Everyone had a fantastic time and all of us can't wait to get back there, the beach is perfect for the little ones and all of the tavernas are absolutely excellent, without exception. The area is very chilled and so friendly you won't want to come home and once you've seen that sunset it will be etched in to your memory for ever so you will have to return again and again.

Another vote for Arillas from me. A really friendly resort with loads of good accommodation and tavernas right on the beach-front, and those that are away from the front will only be a 10 minute walk at most.
There is no such thing as a "bad" place in Arillas, they are all good but different. The Horizon would be my favourite and can be booked direct (at) http://www.horizon-hotel.gr/ which means that you could get EasyJet flights so the whole package ends up a lot cheaper. Actually, many of the places in Arillas will take direct bookings, another good place right on the beach is The Mirage - http://www.miragecorfu.com/ Many other contact details for accommodation can be found on Arillas.com like CorfuSoon suggested - the site also has a Webcam located on the roof of the Horizon Hotel and looking at the beach (at) http://www.arillas.com/web-cam/ To get a really good idea of what the resort is like, and to see the actual properties along the beachfront, there is a 360 degree "Virtual" Tour (at) http://www.arillas.corfu360.net/ Have a great holiday ! |

When ours were younger we went to St Georges South. I know that it is not "old Corfu" but we found the beach to be large, flat, sandy and clean. In-fact the whole area was fairly flat, ideal for little legs and pushchairs. We found lots of different places to eat and at the time they were reasonably priced, there was even a pizza take-away (cannot vouch for this as we did not use it ). There was a good local tourist office that offered plenty of excursion ideas and again were reasonably priced. We would highly recommend the trip to Sivota by boat if they still do it. We stayed with Thomsons and found there was again plenty for little ones to do on site, and the rooms where air conditioned!

Firstly for transfers under 1 hour to the northern resorts you are looking at
taxis not the Tour Operators' bus transfers which can take anything from 90 minutes to 4 hours in extreme cases.
You mentioned Arillas and Agios Georgios north both of which are lovely places to stay and Agios Stefanos NW has a great beach too. If you want accommodation right at the beach in Agios Georgios then Houmis self-catering apartments come into mind or for a hotel Costas Golden Beach, which is a Thomsons hotel, fits the bill. Taxi journey takes about 45 minutes which cost last year was about 50-55 euros each way. The beach is very long and the sand is soft and deep but a bit gritty. To be fair the beach at Agios Stefanos is firmer for a 2 year old than AG. |
