Have already posted on San Stefanos forum as that was one of my choices of where to go in Corfu in September.  Have been reading a lot about different places in Corfu and there seem to be so may places to choose from to holiday.  My partner are in our forties and we like a bit of life but not really into clubs, like nice bars and restaurants, not too isolated but not too in your face is hwta we look for!!  Have been reading and Messonghi/Moratika and also about Acharavi, they seem the sort of places that would appeal to us.  Any adivce on basic costs, eating out, drinks etc.   Any opinion on any of these resorts would be great, if any one can help with recommending any self catering apartments anywhere that wouldnt break the bank, all advice welcome!! Smile

Roda sounds like it could be perfect for you. A quiet stroll down the beach road from Acharavi. Plenty of choices, prices kept down. Flat, sandy, great views and a wide choice of self catering apartments. If you don't want to go independent most of the tour companies still go to Roda. We use Olympic. Visit www.rodaonline.org for lists of independent apartments. Hope this helps. Bev

Hi Lizme167
Corfu is an absolutely wonderful island, and wherever you go you are bound to love it. Everyone will have their own favourite of course - for me it's Arillas on the North West Coast, the sunsets that can viewed from the seafront tavernas and restaurants are stunning and as a resort it fits your stated requirements, although it may be slightly quieter than Acharavi. San Stefanos(NW) is the next bay along from Arillas and has a little more nightlife and the same sunsets!
To get a good idea of what some of the resorts look like take a look at :- http://www.corfu360.net/
The site is full of resort information, and if you click the links in the centrally located menu on that main page, headed "Corfu Resorts", they take you to a full "Virtual" tour of the resort.
Have a great time!
Home is where the Heart is - CORFU :-)

Hi, Moraitika/Messonghi are lovely places to stay! Messonghi being the quietest of the two. A short stroll from Messonghi, brings you into Moraitika, where there is more nightlife, if you want it. Also, a stroll in the other direction, from Messonghi, down the coastline, brings you to Boukari, with its` lovely fish tavernas & views across the sea. Buses run regularly from Moraitika roundabout, south to St.George, etc.. or the other way, Benitses, Corfu town.. so you are in a great position to visit other resorts, should you want to!
Try travelrepublic.com for hotels/apartments in Messonghi, sometimes you can get a good price!

Sounds like Acharavi would suit you. You can walk up to Roda, then taxi to Sidari (last year cost us 15euros) if you fancy a more livelier night. Good luck with your choice.
Love acharavi love newcastle united love ya family love life 🍻😜

We love Acharavi and have been going since 1995.
It has a great mix of tavernas and bars on the high street and also
has lots on the beach too.
There is lots of accommadation available and may I recommend Sue
at Castaway travel to provide you with assistance on this. Her knowledge
of the area is second to none.
Acharavi also has lots of shops, bank, and super markets.

Kassiopi is very nice also, as are most resorts in the North (I'm sure they
are in the South too but haven't visited them).

Wherever you go, I'm sure you'll love the Corfiot hospitality.

Beautiful Agios Georgios north on the NW coast between Arillas and Paleokastritsa might suit you.  Although quiet and not commercialised it has plenty of nice tavernas and restaurants, many of which have lovely views. The bay is well known for its long sweeping sandy beach with background of olive grove covered hills. It is popular for walking in the leafy green countryside.
As GJJW says you will also enjoy the famous Corfiot hospitality which has led to quite a few ex-pats settling in the area's villages.

One more addition for you to check out on the west coast. We all have our own favorite locations and love to promote them. The west coast has mainly sandy beaches but what they all share is fantastic sunsets.

They are close to the beach and a short walk up in to town. Lovely, spacious, clean apartments.

If you're looking for natural beauty in a resort I would go to Aghios Gordios every time. Gorgeous village, beautiful sandy beach and a bit of life but not too much. Check out the Aghios Gordios Hotel, it has great reviews and right on the beach. We are in our forties too and love this resort. Aghios Gorgeous!

Thanks for the advice about the Matoula apartments.  I was looking at Aghios Gordios at one point but my partner has been and Ive also been to different parts of Corfu before so we were looking for somewhere neither of us has been before.  We have been looking at San Stefanos, Acharavi and maybe even Roda.  We also were considering the other side as in Messonghi/Moraitika.  We've got a few good ideas now, am looking forward to planning it all now!!Smile

I must put in a good word for St George South. Laid back nightlife, good tavernas and bars as lively or quiet as you want it. Look out for Tzevenos for simple, self catering or bed and breakfast accommodation and a lovely pool with snack bar. Also the Village Grill for simple Greek food with Mad Mikes nearby if you want a lively, friendly bar that also serves breakfasts to die(t) for! Beautiful sandy beach and one of the most friendly resorts on Corfu I have ever been to. San Stefanos NW is great as well, as is Roda and Kassiopi.

I don't think you will be disappointed wherever you stay in Corfu...I've not had a bad holiday experience there in 26 years!

Sue
Corfu...I came, I saw, it conquered!
