Is there an alternative way of booking excursions when in Paleo? I know the holiday reps sell them for a small fortune.

All the resorts I am familiar with have local tourist offices selling among everything else, excursion tickets, I'me sure Paleo is just the same.

Most of the tourist offices offer prices cheaper than your tour rep can offer and a far better range of tours.

Sorry, but there is no tourist office in Paleo. To be honest, I don't know where in Paleo you can book trips out except at the hotels.
It's all Greek to me!

If anyone does know where we can book excursions that would be great! Very interested in the Albania day trip but wondering if we can get it cheaper without using Thomson.

Maybe it's better to take excursions in Corfu Town? There are lots of tourist agencies and boat trip to Albania is obviously cheaper than from the opposite side of the island.

The only things you can book are the boat hire, beach taxis, and beach barbecue that run from Paleokastritsa itself.

The only thing I can suggest is if you can get to Sidari, book at a tourist shop there, and there are many!

Yep, the beach barbecue that runs out of Paleokastritsa can usually be booked cheaper in Sidari!
That's why I'm going to Sidari for a bit this year, and to see the outlying islands, before moving to Paleo.

I know where you mean - right and left is a bit ambiguous, but it's on the inland side of the road in the middle of the resort. I don't know about Paxos - I thought they only sold local hire and trips..?  But they may sell tickets for other boat trips around Corfu - though I struggle to recall seeing anyone actually in that office.

It has been a quite a few years since we have been, so may be wrong, but I thought it was on the other side of the road, up meaning from the monastery end of Paleo, right being seaward side of the road.
its nice to be important but its more important to be nice

The establishment in question is on the same side of the road as the Paleo Inn. However, as far as I can remember [senior moment] they only sell tickets for local boats/bbq etc. The only other place I can think of is at The Apollon or at other hotels via reps.

You can book trips and accomodation with a company called Corfu Sunspots, their address is 24 Ethinkas, Paleo... so I assume that is in the village, but might be wrong.
Their website is www.corfu-hotels.travel (or google whl travel for the main site) or e.mail Sandra - info (at)corfu-hotels.travel
I am using them for my Liapades trip and found them very helpful and quick to reply to queries.

Ah, about five years ago the little shop on the seaward side that sold silver jewellery used to have a tourist office on the end, but not for a long time now.

I am probably wrong, but I think that address for Corfu-Hotels is basically Paleokastrisa Street, Corfu. I'm sure some-one will confirm or correct me! Ermm

Yes, "Ethnikis Paleokastritsas" as an address seems to be in Corfu town.  Addresses in Paleokastritsa itself don't seem to have regular numbers, just the name of the house, villa, restaurant etc.

The Albania trip is 40 euro pp. This includes transfer to/from Paleo to port, & boat ticket.

If you want to go on the "optional trip" to Bitrint it's another 19 euro pp which is paid on the ferry. You also have to pay 10 euro port tax pp on the ferry too. (these are all S12 prices). And you won't be able to get these prices cheaper anywhere as they are paid on the boat, and nothing to do with the excursion seller.

To be honest if you do find it cheaper than 40 euro it won't be that much cheaper and there are NO tourist office in Paleo that sell excursions apart from the local boat trips around Paleo. You may be able to book it from another hotel which offer excursions as a side line. If you have the opportunity to book it through Thomson I'd book it through them. If you have any problems ie coach doesn't pick you up etc they will always assist you.
