So pleased to see the Forum up and running again - I was having withdrawal symptoms.
Coming to Villa Tatiana with Meon later in the season. Looks gorgeous in the photos. Although on a steep hill, it is not far from the village and looks directly above the church. We wondered if anyone else has stayed there or in one of the nearby villas, and whether it is possible to walk directly down the hill through the olive groves? We are quite fit and happy to wear 'sensible shoes' if it involves a bit of scrambling up or down. Thanks. |

Thought I would answer your post as no one else has as yet. Sorry but I do not know the Villa where you are staying. I think there is a track going uphill from the church but if your accomodation is anywhere near it I don't know. If you can see the church easily there must be a chance of getting down that way rather than use the road. If you are further up the hill (past the road junction) I suspect you would have to walk the road or use a car. The higher up you are the harder it gets after a good meal! Meon should have some first hand information about it's location so it may be worth asking them and see if they can earn their money! They are bound to have a local rep who knows. Good luck with that.

Hi there, I've stayed in a villa on the top of the hill over looking the village. it's an easy walk down using the road. It was really hard work going back up after a great meal down below. However I found that the Taverna owners were keen enough to give us a lift at the end of the night (or at least offer the services of a waiter). I did try once to cut through the olive groves, it can be a tad step, depending on your route but I got slaughtered by the mozzies - it was September. They took one look and I was covered and got bites on every exposed bit of flesh.
There you go, that's my thoughts. Mike

Thank you DaGreek and MikeyT for your replies.
We have stayed at the top of the hill on the road too, and not found a route down. This looks very close on google earth but there might be a sheer drop down that you can't make out. Hopefully mozzies won't be too much of a problem in June. We will just have to wait and explore when we get there!

The way down starts just past the end of the villas on the right. You can see where the water has cut a channel as it runs around the end of the wall. Trust me, you don't want to be anywhere near that path if it rains!!
Once you start on that decent it soon takes a zig zag path down the slope and eventually you run out behind the Church. It's not too steep if you have sensible shoes/trainers. It's not the clearest of paths but you can figure out once you start. Google earth only shows the start to about half way down.
I did take a GPS track on my phone a few years ago, but I can't find it now.
Cheers.

We always stay in Acharavi but Im not a fan of the beach as we love to snorkel, the sand at Acharavi makes visability awfull. Just by chance our Greek friend mentioned Kerasia beach so we gave it a go WELL what can I say, its one of our favourites now and almost comes close to Kaminaki for snorkelling!!

Its so quiet too when we have been there. It's like you can have half the beach to yourself and most of the taverna when you wish eat or drink. I do go either in May or September though.
Enjoy your snorkle Jules. |
