Some advice please.  Am in Kalami for a week from Monday and my son is bringing a friend who carries an epi-pen for an allergy to wasp bites. Luckily he has never had a reaction bad enough to use it. Is there a contact number, like 999, for an ambulance or if we have an emergency are we quicker to just head to the hospital.

Hi,
The general number for the emergency services is 112, specifically for an ambulance 116 or if you are using a UK mobile phone, if you dial 999 it will be transferred to the emergency services. It can take the ambulances a while to reach you so may be best to go directly to the Private Clinic (26613 60400) or Corfu General Hospital (26610 36044). I am sure that the local Greeks will advise you of the best action to take should an emergency arise. Hope your holiday is incident free. Smile

From what I witnessed a last week then if its serious get going in your own car if you can, you could wait up to 40 minutes and thats if the ambulance isnt busy. Also I was told that ambulance has no paramedics unlike the UK they are just transport so will recieve no first aid untill you arrive at the hospital anyway. You could always locate the nearest doctor in Kalami and speak to them about what treatment they could provide in an emegency..julesxx

Hi,
I am in Kouloura and my son got stung by a wasp. He is allergic so we rushed him to Kassiopi and he was put on a drip at the 24hr medical doctors.
Kassiopi is about a 10 minute drive from Kalami.
Hope this helps, K

Thank you all. Kouloura can you possibly supply the contact details of the place in Kassiopi and where abouts within the town - I know Kassiopi fairly well. Just wish to have all to hand in case needed.
