Anyone know the cost of these to hire for a week. Any ideas of shops in the Kassiopi or Archaravi area? I cannot see anything on the web to book in advance..

Quad bike shop on the left just as you enter Kassiopi, no idea how much though.

There seemed to be a lot more quad bikes zooming around last month - wouldnt catch me on one though. My biker man other half felt they were safer than scooters - saw too many people swathed in bandages at airport going home a few years ago who said they had come adrift on scooters and they were used to biking
. Make sure your licence covers driving them too ... and your travel insurance to be safe.

My husband is a biker and he would not touch a quad bike!! I think they are OK if you travel slowly and do not attempt to go off tarmac and avoid and big potholes LOL

Same for me. I have hired scooters for years but wouldn't touch a quad bike. You need to travel so slow to make them safe it would be quicker to walk.

They seem to be safer round the coast road, last year we saw loads on our hill upto Pantokrator that had run off the road ending up in the olives or scrublands. On one occasion a so called quad safari had a number of quads off the road, there were'nt enough ambulances available to take the injured away, they had to use trucks.
I used to ride a motorbike and sport sidecar, the action is much the same as a quad bike, but a much wider track so more stable. Personaly would'nt touch one with the proverbial long stick. Bob

We had one for the first week of our holiday to get us in and out of Kassiopi and runs up to Roda during the day. Got us a great deal from a friend. Great fun if you dont go mad. You dont have to book. You need a full licence.

We always see so many people with large grazes on arms and legs where they have come off quad bikes, I would not recomend them. Chill out walk, or hire air con car. But always have fun and enjoy your hols.

If you have a 250cc you will need a full bike licence. Don't be a fool use the helmet. You can get a quad from 15€ a day. ps if you aint tried it dont knock it

I prefer the quad to a scooter but then I've got a 12 year old in tow.
I don't drive like a nutter on the quad and give it the respect it deserves which probably explains why I've never had an accident on one. Too many peeps get on them with no experience and think they can drive them like a car, not so simple. Helmets are a must along with sunscreen, I've had a "Quad arm tan" before. |

Just great
Are there 4 wheeled buggies too? Are these better, cheaper, safer?

Check the insurance as I think most companies are only 3rd party. You can get travel insurance here at home before you travel to Corfu for quad biking.

Yes Ingride, there are dune buggies too. These are much safer as they are quite difficult to turn over, unlike the quads. I am pretty sure you need a full car licence for these though but can drive a quad on a bike licence. Not too sure on this though so maybe someone else can confirm this.

We used to hire quads years ago and yes they were great fun BUT came to realise how unstable and dangerous they were and not always at the fault of the quad driver, I found it scary as due to the relativly slow speed it was other car/lorry/coach drivers who tried to overtake them in risky places. The problems are due to the potholes and camber of the road in places they weave around and the driver cant really control this movement.
More worrying this year I was giving a lift to someone in our car to Sidari and some poor man on a scooter had been in a collision with a car and it looked quite bad. It had clearly happened a good 15/20 minutes before we passed as the police were directing traffic and someone was shading this man with an umberella, I passed and carried on to Sidari and dropped my friends off and then started off back to Acharavi thinking this poor man will have been helped by now but as I passed again 15 minutes later he is still in the same place at the side of the road and I didnt pass the ambulance untill I got back to the Roda traffic lights. I was then told by my Greek friend that the ambulance is transport only and they have no paramedics on board like the UK so he still had a long trip back to Corfu hospital after he had been picked up. I realise this has no relevance to driving quads as you can have an accident in anything but made me think about safety a bit more..jules

So maybe the dune buggies. Any idea of the rent of this. A small car is about 30 euros a day but we are trying to save money1

I am usually on a tight budget too, but prefer to hire a car for a few days rather than a scooter or quad for longer. Also we try to stay somewhere near useful bus routes, surprising what can be done by bus. Enjoy your holiday.
