I am visiting for one day and my family is torn regarding which beach we should visit.  What beach would you recommend for a family of 5, my 3 children are 10, 8 and 6?  Both beaches have great reviews and it seems like I cannot go wrong.  While Kouloura seems less populated, Paleokastritsa seems more beautiful.  Any assistance would be appreciated.

One other question, what is your recommendation for a lunch place in Paleokastritsa?  Keep in mind I have 3 children, one of which loves calamari.

Thank you in advance.

Rocco, I cant comment on Kouloura as I've never been there.
Paleokastritsa is absolutely stunning, there are many great places to eat, however...
Paleo is extremely hilly, if you're driving it wont be a problem, I wouldn't like to have to walk any great distance around there with 3 children...
www.paleokastritsa-bliss.com has a 360 degree virtual tour, have a look and see what you think!!

Smile There are many places to eat in Paleo [never had a bad meal yet!]. For lunch possibly The Grill House, or Petrino [pretty good burgers], or if you want to go a little bit upmatket [though not far] Nereids now does a lunch time menu about 5 - 8 Euros. Agia Triada beach is between The Grill House and Nereids which itself is almost immediately after The Akrotiri Beach Hotel as you enter Paleo. There is a "taverna"  and swimming pool, open to the public, at this beach too. I'm sure you will love Paleo.

It's all Greek to me!

Kouloura every time. Paleo is stunning but can be very busy. Also the taverna in Kouloura bay is known for its seafood!!
Beside the sea all worries wash away!!

The main beach at Paleo has sand and I often see children on it. Have a quick look at it using the Apollon Hotel website (just google the hotel then on the left on their site there is a link to the webcam). The right handside of the beach can get busy-ish but it's a big beach. The beach over the carpark is also fairly popular with families and it's great swimming there. Children do need supervised at this one as it does shelf reasonably quickly.
I can close my eyes and see Paleo but it's not the same.........Roll on my next trip.
