Starting to look forward to our annual Kalami fix in September and wondered if anyone can enlighten me on walking from Kalami to Agni. During the afternoons when my better half is having a siesta I like to walk off the excesses of lunch. I usually walk to Kouloura and have a cold Mythos at the taverna there but when I've tried to walk to Agni I seem to get lost. I follow the road past the White House until you come to a bend where there's a path leading down to a small bay and the road turns right and seems to lead up to the village. Can anyone tell me where I go from here.
Many Thanks

Go past the White House and on to the place where the road turns to the right. Just past here there is a small path on the left down to a small bay. Take this path down and when you reach the bay go to the right along the bay until just before the end where you climb up a little to a path which runs alongside a wire fence. Follow this path which sometimes goes quite close to the waters edge and you will soon reach Agni.

When you reach the small bay you can either follow the coast line up onto the rocks and this takes you onto the footpath or as previously said, once you hit the pebble beach turn right and immediately back on yourself before turning left after 10 yards to follow the same footpath.

You can walk further along too - you walk along and through the front of Nicholas taverna.
We were looking for the St Arsenios chapel as in Prosperos Cell by Lawrence Durrell but could not find the way to it from the path.

We walk there and back in the dark with no problem, just take a torch, lots of people do it!!
As long as you are not totally legless it is quite safe and a lot cheaper than a taxi and will help with the digestion!!! In fact it is a lovely walk in the dark with the moon shining on the sea and the sound of the waves breaking on the rocks and shore. |

As Ellenjay says the path continue past Nikolas' Taverna and continues to the Nissaki Beach and beyond. Hopefully your good lady wil succumb and get the boat, a pleasant journey giving great views of the bay, Agni boat is fast (3-4 minutes), the Nikolas boat is operated by Yannis and goes at a more leisurely pace (6-8 minutes), normally to the tunes of 1970's Swedish pop (guess who).

When you put it like that a stroll back after dinner sounds quite nice. Won't feel so guilty about having a pudding

Now you've said they play 70's Swedish pop on the boat Canarydave I might get her on the boat but not get her off until she's sang the complete soundtrack to Mamma Mia

That's Yannis CD of choice at the moment, so you should have no trouble getting your lady on board

Lily's Gran
I think Yannis boat is equipped with a cassette player, not the modern (1980's) invention that is called a cd player. Having said that maybe he has had a winter re-fit. Anybody knows?
