I have spent the past couple of days in Paleo and was disappointed in the number of streetlights not working.
We walked from near the bottom of the resort to Nausika and lost count of the lights that were not lit-made for a nervous walk in the dark at some points. ![]() |

Understand what you say being nervous, but the first time we went to Paleo 13 years ago the lighting was very poor, but gosh you could see the stars!! You felt you could pick them of the sky with your hand. Better lights for walking now agreed, but miss the stars as we walk at night. Just an old romantic thats me.!!

I always love it that Corfu is kept 'dark', and it horrifies me that the UK is like a huge orange beacon when we fly back home.
In my honest opinion the Greek prefectures have had to make such drastic cuts that street lighting is waaay down the list. Get a good torch and use it!

It could be due to money saving tactics which I don't blame the councils for. There were a lot of lights out on the main road between Acharavi and Peritheia recently. I have also heard that lights are off in Corfu Town in places.
I have to agree with other posters on here. Light pollution is one of the irritants in my life! I love to see the night sky here. Just be sure to pack a torch!

What I did notice, besides at least half the bulbs being out, is the huge pile of dead bugs in the bottom of every globe.
