After numerous rumours and congecture , last weekend work was being carried out internally, today a Dielas yes Dielas lorry was unloading check out counters.
Now let's just hope that's sorted then.
PS. This is my first post from my tablet.

Have noticed that Dielas have not only taken over the old Sconto Supermarket building, but have extended into the two other empty properties next door right up to the motor bike hire shop 20 or so yards further along.

Martyn, that's today, well in five minutes it is, hell, better send the hoover round.
Hope we will see her. Tell her we will be in "Kaparelli" Saturday night. If she doesn't get a better offer.

Any photos around perhaps? I am sooo curious as we left Acharavi this May when the old Sconto and the old vine store next to it were still all empty like an old western town.

Armin, they still look empty with the windows papered over, but when the doors are open we can see that all the interior walls have been removed making the area about two times the original, shelving units starting to go in but not much to see yet.

Hi Bob, thank you very much for the quick answer. Well okay, so I'll just have to wait for a pic to show up over the season or check it myself in May next year when we'll be back in Acharavi.

This morning there are piles of rubble outside, I guess that is from where the internal walls have been removed to access the other adjacent empty shops.
Still loads to do before we can pop in and check it out.

Well its almost looking like a Dielas store, I did say almost, windows and signs all covered in Dielas green and yellow.
Check out desks installed, but still short on shelving and produce.
Talking to a expat friend the other day about the new store, and she actually said how excited she was at the prospect. It takes all sorts I suppose.

I've just been informed by my friend in Acharavi that Dielas is now open!
Roll on 2nd August - their nappies will come in handy with my 4 month old.

Popped in there last evening, nicely laid out with more room in the isles for trollys than Sidari, don't know what I expected but it lacks something, only a small area for bread, meat looked nice though, limited cold meats and cheeses, but its early days, I'm sure it will improve with time.
When the open till got a queue another was opened quickly which was good.

It is quite well stocked now and always busy. They are also selling white goods at very reasonable prices.

My son and daughter in law +2 kids come out to Acharavi end of August, the youngest still in nappies. Does anyone know if Diellas store is reasonable for toddler nappies? Thanks

What a difference the opening of the new store has made to Acharavi. When Sconto closed down, that end of town seemed to wilt, but now there is a buzz similar to the other end of town but with easyer parking.

Really? Awesome! Can't wait to see it next year!

Would be nice to see a photo of the new store if someone would be so friendly to take one and upload?

Armin, surely you will have noticed the Dielas store on the main road through Gouvia. Well the Acharavi store is painted in exactly the same colour scheme.

Hehe, thank you Bob. I ment more how much of the Dielas green to expect, like if the painted the whole or half the block. if I got earlier posts right, the shop goes all the way of the old Sconto and now includes the years empy wine store next to it so I was wondering if there is all green from corner to where the ATM sed to be. But dont worry about my post, am just joking around a bit being super curious for the changes when we finally are back in May Smile

Do not fret Armin, you won't miss it. IT'S VERY GREEN AND YELLOW.
Other than that its not as big as the Gouvia branch, but stocks all the basics and is well used by locals and tourists alike.
And it does go all the way up to the motor bike rental shop, then the rest of the block is taken up by the Chinese shop. Now, if you haven't visited there you are in for an experience, the staff follow the customers around everywhere, very weird.

Sooo very true. We had this last year. We still knew the place from when the sports shop used to be there and were curious ... Really funny, I had a little Chinese guy follow me all the way. And when I turned around to face him he turned away ... waited ... just follow me on with every step again. So funny ... really worth visiting the shop just for this. LOL
