Oh my!! You will get loads of answers here, I must say that the 3 times we have been to Kalami we have tried most of the tavernas in Kalami and have not yet had a bad meal. One of my favorites though is to catch the boat to the next bay and go to Nicolas's. It seems an extra nice way of getting to dinner. If you want superb views you could go to Dimitri's up on the hill. We also like sitting on the beach at Thomas's . I could go on but I shall let other people have a turn.
Have a lovely holiday Cara |

In a way it's lovely that there is not too much choice!! And generally they are all good! There are 3 main tavernas..Kalami Beach, Thomas's and The White House, all have fabulous views over the bay (the first 2 have tables on the beach and the White House has a lovely terrace). The bar/restaurant at the Adonis and Asonitis does very good value meals catering for both English and Mediterranean tastes. There is place called Matella's which is not open all season, but which does lovely and slightly different dishes. You also have the option of taking a boat round to the next bay (Agni) where there are 3 tavernas. All are fab, and the scenery is stunning. Agni taverna is more upmarket, therefore a bit more expensive. A speedboat will collect you and take you back to Kalami. Nicolas taverna send a boat round on the half hour between about 7 and 9 to collect you from the small jetty on Kalami beach. They have a Greek night on a Thursday which is good fun and good value in the most beautiful setting. You can reserve a table there at the small travel office in Kalami on the path down to the beach just past Thomas's taverna. Dimitris on the main road above Kalami offers spectacular views. A 10- 15 minute walk out of Kalami takes you to the beautiful bay of Kouloura with it's tiny harbour. There is a single taverna there which is known for it's fish. Again a beautiful setting! We are also arriving on 18th June..it will be our 5th visit. We have been all over Greece but Kalami is very special.

Putney Sue has it all covered, each of these places has something special and unique and all are excellent.
Worth mentioning Dimitris has traditional music on a Saturday evening. There is also the Elia Pool Bar which does snacks and light meals all day and evening. Light snacks are also available at the top pool bar at the A&A. In a week you can try them all then you will have your own favourite!! People will have their favourites but you can try them all in a week, then you will have your own favourite.

Thanks Canary Dave!.. can't believe I omitted to mention Elia pool bar. It's one of our favourite places to spend the day! Dorina and Eric are so welcoming, the pool is lovely and they do great light lunches..highly recommended!! As for the Greek night at Nicolas Taverna Agni Bay..we were there last September and I think it cost either 20 or 25 euros per person. That included the boat trip there and back..appetisers on arrival, starters, mains (barbecued chicken or lamb) with chips and Greek salad and a chocolate cake pudding. It also included all the wine you could drink (not sure if beer was in the package). Most people made the most of this offer and everyone was quite "mellow" by the end of the evening!! The entertainment was great fun..bouzouki players, dancers in local costume doing traditional dances and the taverna owner himself putting in a virtuoso performance!! Very happy people on the boat back to Kalami in the moonlight! (Hope I'm painting a romantic picture!). The Adonis and Asonitis also put on a very good Greek Night on Sunday evenings. Food and drinks not included (but you can have your evening meal there) excellent displays of Greek dancing and music..again not to be missed!! |

There is also traditional Greek music played at Dimitri's Taverna "To Steki" on a Wednesday and Saturday night. No dancers but to sit and listen to both Dimitri's playing guitar, accordion and singing traditional songs is very pleasing indeed. Coupled with the views from his balcony and Alison supplying you with good wine there's nothing much more that we want for.

The moonlight boat trip back from Nicholas taverna, (in our case to San Stephanos) is just magical, watching the moonbeams glinting off the wash behind the boat. Wow.

Just come back from 2 weeks sunning, eating and a glass or 2...honest!
Unfortunately never got to try round at Agni but Thomas's menu's now changed and had exquisite steak up at Dimitris with an amazing balcony view down into the bay, highly recommend. The wife loved Kaloura for the fish dishes but I'm more a meat eater. Oh, how we long to be back

We are just back from Corfu today. We stay in the North West, but came back to Kalami to meet up with our friends Nairn and Julie and this time was for our friend Julie's birthday (hi Julie!). We celebrated her birthday meal at The White House and how lovely it was! We sat next to the water so had very beautiful views, the staff are lovely and make you feel very welcome and special and the food is wonderful. I also love all the other places mentioned too!

If I remember rightly, you can book the boat and the Greek night at the travel office, which is down the narrow alley at the side of Thomas's taverna

Have to say that Kalami (and the rest of north east Corfu) is not the cheapest place to eat out, but location, location, location!! Having said that, you can eat as cheaply or as expensively as you like! Surprisingly, fish is expensive, and is generally charged for by the kilo, so be careful! Traditional Greek dishes I would say, tend to be cheaper (and are delicious!). A meal for 2 including a starter and main course and a big jug of local wine would be on average 40-60 euros, quite a bit more at Agni taverna, but well worth the extra in my opinion for the wonderful food, service, surroundings and transfer by speedboat!! Much better than London prices by comparison. The Adonis and Asonitis does really good food which is excellent value, great pizzas, a selection of dishes which appeal to all tastes and some very good Greek dishes, all served in nice surroundings and in a good atmosphere. We generally do a bit of a mix, cheaper and very cheerful some nights and slightly more upmarket and expensive others. That way we seem to balance out our budget!! We are also arriving on the 18th, getting very excited now especially seeing the Corfu forecast which looks fantastic after the terrible weather we've been having!! Maybe see you there!

The local tavernas have excellent house wine, normally 7-10 euros for a litre carafe, cheaper than bottles or other drinks and more than drinkable on a session.
