Good cornflakes available everywhere. I found the best ones are the ones called 'Tasty'which you can get in a box or a refill pack. The company who make them is owned by 'Lays'who make the crisps and they also own Walkers crisps in UK.

Razaker we are flying jet2 and were told by Olympic that hold luggage was 20kgs and hand 5kgs.
We were at East Midlands airport a couple of weeks ago and I decided to check out what the weight allowed was as I had read somewhere that it was 15kgs. Jet2 told me regardless of who you booked with Jet2 allow 22kgs and 10kgs for hand!
They also sell their own cabin bags on wheels...and it is huge!! Trouble is it's far to big if flying on other airlines...but it will hold plenty of Salami Sausage! My other half likes it to keep in the fridge for a little snack with a few local olives, crisps and a cold beer!

Andy its not so much the availability its sadly more about having to be more careful with the pennies. Especially on Paxos. Very expensive for daily needs! With just a couple of small supermarkets to buy from the prices shocks me every year I go.
This year it will be a trip to a local Lidals before we go to take a few things to help. Tea coffee sugar biscuits salami chocolate bars etc all of which will free up my pennies so I can have what I want of an evening. I even think I might take some frozen butter!!! I know some people don't mind self catering a couple of nights to help the money go further but I prefer to go out every night and make do a bit in the day.
With all that extra weight I can take I might as well make the most of it and pack something useful and leave some of the unnecessary clothing I always take! Big smile

Shakespearstar- there is a Lidl praxtically next to Corfu airport!  You could stock up there on the way to the ferry!   Don't recommend butter- in this heat it would be runny even if it started off frozen!

Hi,
We have taken butter in a freezer bag in our hold luggage, with two freezer blocks, and it has still been solid when we arrived at house in Corfu 14 hours later.

Ooh! A lidels by the airport? I wonder how they compare price wise!
If we arrive  on time it should give us about 3 hours at the port. A quick shop stocking up with my favourite white chocolate will get the holiday off to a good start! I'm afraid its a bad habit I have acquired: a good night out then back to the room. Get ready for bed then snuggle down with a glass of Metaxa a good book and a bar of white chocolate with fruit and nuts! Woohoo!  Heaven!!! Big smile Big smile

We flew Jet2 with Olympic and, although our tickets said 20kg, the Jet2 allowance is 22kg + 10kgs hand luggage.
Our little trolley cases we used for hand luggage both weighed around 9 kgs, and both of our cases were over 20kg.  We had no problem at check in.

Lidl is on the main road from Corfu Town to Kontokoli, on the left hand side.  We always plan to visit every year, but end up just using the local supermarkets in Sidari.  The two at the beginning of the resort are fairly large and prices are reasonable.
We're thankful that we now have the hire car to transport the heavier stuff.
I remember many years ago walking the length of the resort, weighed down with bags.  Not a good idea in that heat, lol!

There is another Lidl even closer to the airport but its not so easy to find.
Its the one that seems to be in the middle of a field!!
We always pass it on our way back to the airport.
I will leave it to someone else to give accurate directions!!

Pinched from the old Agni forum

Out of the airport, turn left for 200 metres, sharp right at the lights heading back into Town, first major road left after 300 metres and Lidl is just on the right by the new dual carriageway. Altogether - 3 minutes.

And also

Don't worry if you miss the dual carriage sharp right slip road which ends at Lidl. If you have turned right but not sharp enough you come to a T junction (left to Ropa Valley and Pelekas). Turn right and go over the hill and down the other side to a cross roads. Turn right there and Lidl is about 300 metres down on left hand side.

For the reasons you've given Shakespearstar I think you may be better bringing your treats and certain essentials with you. If you've only got a three hour window before leaving for Paxos that is entirely dependent on not experiencing a delay. Then providing you've got time you will have to get a taxi to the Lidl and back again which will add to the cost.

From what you say about why you like to bring key items with you and the fact that you've got pretty generous baggage allowances I would think you might be better to carry on as you normally do. Then any delays won't have you getting anxious about getting what you need in Corfu. Even better you can relax at the port and enjoy a coffee to make the best start to your holiday!!

Like everybody we try keep costs down whilst still being able to have our nights out. We do this by eating in a couple of nights but usually after we have been on a boat trip or something like that. The other way we save is by not having a car all the holiday we just have one for 3 days at the beginning and end of the holiday, saves on taxi fares and means we can get to Lidl and stock up. Prices are very good you can even get Lurpak butter now! Cans of beer are about 40 cents. Bottle of wine 2 to 3 euros and its nice. Bags of coffee for filter machine are about 3 euros for 2 packs can get some dearer if you want the named stuff but still not expensive compared to buying in resort, you can save enought to pay for a couple of nights out over 2 weeks holiday. Horses for courses I guess but certainly more people now seem to be watching their pennies.
enjoy what you can when you can!

If you can get to a Diellas they do a very palatable dry white wine for just under 6 euros for 5 litres. Bargain!!! Smile
