Looking at this as a possible destination for September, if we have time and money left after visiting Kalami in June! Has anyone got any info.  We love North East Corfu.. Kalami, Agni and San Stefanos.. would Sivota match up?  Must say it looks lovely!

Hi Sue

The simple answer is yes!

Trying to describe the place is difficult - it's sort of a cross between Kassiopi (for the harbour side, but bigger) as San Stephanos (for the views, but substitute Corfu for Albania!).  The coastline around the bay and islands is very much like NE Corfu, although without the various villages.  I have to say that it is one of my favourite ports of call on our Ionion sailing trips.

A favourite pastime here (in th evenings) is to sit in one of the many harbourfront bars (my favourite is "The Bamboo Place") and watch the sunsets over Corfu - they are truely wonderful.  You also have the opportunity to sit comfortably and watch the antics of the yachties trying to moor up to the quayside (possibly including me) which is always good sport!  I spent one Sunday morning at the top of a 60ft mast working on a jammed sail;  it wasn't until I was up there that I realised  I was the entertainment for the day!

There are also some good tavernas/restuarants along the harbour as well as in the village itself - plenty of choice - my own favourite is Georgeo's family restauarant on the harbour front.  Although this is traffic free, I once parked my motorbike outside - largely because the owner rides a Harley and I wanted to show off having ridden out from the UK!

The resort is a bit bigger that any that you mention on NE Corfu, particularly the harbour front but I don't think that this detracts from the atmosphere in any way.

We went to Sivota on a day trip about 6 years ago now and to this day it  remains one of my favorite places we have visited. While everyone else was eating around the harbour we found a path and followed it, picnic in hand, and came across the most beautiful beach. One of my favorite photos is of my daughter standing with her back to me and there is not another soul in sight. If we could get there more easily I would not hesitate to go!!
Hope you get to go Putney Sue.
Let us know how you get on.

Thank you both for your replies!  The positive comments have made up our minds and we have booked to go to Sivota at the end of August (after the school holidays)!

We booked it through Olympic Holidays.  They have package deals to Sivota.  We have booked to stay at Albatros Hotel which looks lovely. Having said that, we were annoyed because our prefrerred date of departure was flying from Gatwick with Strategic airlines. This included flight, TRANSFER and accommodation as per a usual package holiday.  My husband wasn't keen on flying with Strategic, and we found a holiday just 3 days later, again with Olympic holidays, same hotel, only this time it was with Monarch airlines who we had more faith in. We booked it only to find that this time transfers from airport to resort were not included.  This was in VERY small print!! It meant we had to either arrange a taxi transfer.. very expensive (but much quicker than a coach transfer which would have meant multiple drop off's at Parga), or hiring a car from  Preveza.  Just read the small print more closely than I did!! It's not a disaster, but we ended up having to pay a bit more than anticipated.

Yes, Olympic holidays are doing something weird this year. Free coach transfers on Thursday flight - expensive taxi transfers on Sunday flight. Thursday flight only June on. I believe this is true for all Olympic hols via Preveza this year.  Best price in Mourtemeno hotel in Sivota. I have had several family members stay though over several years. All are happy with it.

Thankyou for the information both.
I am considering Sivota so that I can get to Dodoni at last!
But we might need to do it via Corfu from Newcastle.
