Returning to A.G this year after a 3 year absence. 2009 and 2010 A.G had a major seaweed problem resembling thick soup so tried other resorts/countries but the draw of A.G is compelling. I have been on the forum and can find no mention of any problem this year. If anyone has been or is in A.G an update about the state of the beach would be appreciated. Thanks

Oh no. How bad is it and are the council doing anything about it? This could end up in divorce from A.G on the grounds of unreasonable beach!

The last report I got back from the resort is that the council have made great efforts to remove the seaweed. They have had a digger on the beach to help them. They have also HACKED off the legs of the Lifeguards tower and moved it. It seems that the shorter tower does not give the lifeguard a full view of the beach now.

We are coming to AG for two weeks on 26th July! Can't wait will be our fifth time at Stevens! Love it there! We were also there in 2010 when the seaweed was really bad. Have the councils efforts been enough to keep it under control?

I have had no reports about seaweed being a problem for weeks. When it was a problem it was the beach front locations that clubbed together to have it removed as the local council had no money to do it. I hope that I have not talked it up. Wink

I have put out a feeler in the resort about the seaweed. If I get no reply, I shall post a report direct when I am there in 10 days time. Clap

Should it be a problem later in the season, maybe an enterprising local will put some baths on the beach and market it as a "Health Spa." LOL!!LOL

Seaweed is a constant problem throughout the year, it depends on how fierce the storms are.
After the winter there are huge banks of the stuff everywhere, which gets scooped up and deposited inland, later influxes have to be handled locally.
I hate how bits of it seem to dry on my feet and stick like you know what for ages.
Jesus wants me as a sunbeam. And a jolly good sunbeam am I.

Walked along the beach today and there was no sign of the seaweed menace.  Clap

When I left come home the beach was seaweed free and at last summer had arrived. My transfer to and from the resort was first class.
The weather was not the best but I still had a good time being amongst friends.
