Hi,
My family and I (me, hubby, 2 children - 5 & 3) are going to Barbati next Saturday for 2 weeks. I am a Geography teacher so always choose places according to the beauty of the place.
We love walking and travelling around and will be hiring a car to see the island. Within the resort itself could anyone answer me a few questions:
1. How far are the main restaurants from the beach or are they on the beach? We don't mind walking!
2. Are there any boats that leave from Barbati to other places?
3. Are there any walks in the area to other places of interest?
4. Which are the best restaurants/tavernas?
5. Is there an ATM and a money exchgange?
6. Is there a supermarker nearby?
Sorry for the huge list of requests!
Thanks in advance
Jo

Hi. First of all you're going to have a great holiday - its very pleasant! We have stayed in Nissaki a few times but only recently stopped off in Barbati this month for the first time.
I can't answer all your questions but here's what I know. 1.There are restaurants on the main road and several on the beach itself. Perhaps a 10 minutes walk from the main road to the beach. Try Nautilas Beach restaurant - clean, good service, changing rooms, shade etc. My teenage children rated it. 2. Boats - Nautilas boat based at Nissaki used to do evening and day trips to Corfu Town etc with Barbati pick up. With youngsters you might want to go in the evening when sun is waning. Its still hot! A bit pricy - 25 euros per adult - your kids might however go half price/free. 3+4. Can't really comment on Barbati. If you have a car then Vitamins at Nissaki on main road is easy to find. Good quality food and views across to Corfu Town. 5+6. ATM and supermarkets. Nearest ATMs at Ipsos. Largest supermarket A+B again at Ipsos. We last visited Barbati two weeks ago. Do rent a car and explore! Children and adults will benefit from shoes to wear in water (5/6 euros locally). Hope this helpful in some way. Have a great holiday. |

Hi Jo P
You will have a great time in Barbati. Restaurants are really good, La Piazza, Caryatides, Lord Byron, Dionysis. There is the Toucan Bar and also Agathi Bar. All the restaurants on the beach are nice. There are a couple of supermarkets in Barbati and there is now a bakery as well.
Hope you enjoy yourselves.

Go to The Pantokrator Hotel and enjoy a drink on the terrace. Magical.
Walk halfway up the hill to the Hotel during the day then turn left on past the Supermarket and just keep going through the Olives. It brings you out eventually halfway up the mountainside on the way to Spartilas then the top of Mount Pantokrator finally but that's best investigated by car. The monastery is lovely and the views stupendous.

We have just returned today so a bit late to give you all info I can as we have our own place in Barbati. I am sure you will enjoy it as it offers just about everything as if it is not available in Barbati it is nearby. Hope you had a good holiday and that you found what you wanted. Returned today...amazing place. We completely fell in love with the place but also managed to get out and about to other places around the island. Loved the monastery!
