Cry
Hi All,
For what seems like an eternity we have suffered a diabolical British summer of rain, rain and more rain.

So here we just 10 days away from our first holiday in Corfu and looking forward to two weeks of wall to wall sunshine ... So you look at the weather forcast and Shocked NO... Not more rain??

Please tell me they have it wrong ?
Please say its only a short shower (preferably at night when we are sleeping)?

Here's Hoping!

Depends where you are going you may get a bit of rain but for the last few weeks it has been "boiling" over there and it looks like it is around 38 deg all this week. We go a week on Monday similar to you and past experience tells me not to worry about the weather in August, in fact a bit of rain now and again can help freshen things up - you will be hot!
enjoy what you can when you can!

Smile Don't worry too much. Last year when we visited Corfu Town, we had one almighty thunderstorm [I loved it, my wife was scared silly!] we got back to Paleo [20Km] an hour later, thunderstorm, what thunderstorm?? Most forecast are based on Corfu Town, and a few kms away it can be totally different. Enjoy the sunshine!!!

Thumbs Up 34 sleeps to Paleo
It's all Greek to me!

Googling around it does forecast some rain to fall within the next two weeks on Corfu Town, a whole 6mm of the dreaded stuff...

I guess this is going to tie-in with the forecasts they are given out for the UK that the Gulf stream is finally going to move further north, therefore the UK will see some sunshine.

There is always the chance of a storm or heavy sporadic shower on Corfu. However my reading of the weather patterns for Corfu in the next Month is somewhat different. As others have said it may depend entirely on which part of the Island you are. You experience some precipitation or not.

I can only see one day next week where just maybe there will be rain on a more widespread basis and so far nothing at all indicated for week commencing 30th July. In fact that week looks downright gorgeous!

You enjoy a lovely holiday on Corfu whatever the weather! Big smile

David
PS. If you are reading the BBC online or interactive TV forecasts for Corfu - don't bother. They are notoriously inaccurate!

Thanks for the updates guys, you are an informative lot.Smile

We are staying in Moraitika. Not having been to the island before, I spent a long time trying to find the right place. Hope I have made a good decision.

We wanted somewhere not too far (like just a bus ride) from Corfu Town, with enough nightlife for somewhere different every night to eat/drink, a bit traditional, but not loud and wild - hope we have made the right choice? What do you think?

Since you all seem to be quite a knowledgable and friendly bunch on this site, are there any obvious tips for days out? We would be interested in a boat trip or two as well as going into town and a day at the water park.

In the mean-time I will keep my eye on the weather websites and hope for big yellow balls!! Big smile

Wink Gulf stream? I think you mean the Jet Stream which has been a lot further south than usual, but is now on the move northwards and hopefully bring some sunshine to the UK, though not when we are in Corfu, for obvious reasons!!!

A word of caution, when I worked in Kassiopi in 95 in August it DIDNT rain for only THREE days but the storms only lasted for about an hour then an hour later you would not have known it had rained
