Hi, we will shortly be staying at the Stella apartments in Geni near Nidri, and wondered if anyone knows of any good restaurants in that general area, we will have a car so don't mind a reasonable drive to one that is worth it!

We will be looking for good quality local Greek food, rather than international fare, and would love somewhere with a great atmosphere.

Thanks in anticipation.

Pete & Julie

I believe there is a good taverna in Geni itself, if you head towards Lefkas town you will come to Lygia, there a a few good tavernas there. O'zouras is very good right on the fishing quayside always filled with locals. At the other end there is Mikis taverna who is very friendly and serves the usual taverna fayre, at the other end along the shoreline is seven islands which again is excellent for fish. Aand for a post meal drink there is the art club run by Spiros, however would suggest you either find a room there or nominate a driver as the hospitality there is rather good!

Thanks for that Rocdoc, we will certainly investigate these. Does anyone else have any recommendations?

You'r the man Rocdoc - Any idea's about Lazarata. One taverna?
Don't want to drive unless I have to for my evening meal.
Hole in the wall machines on Lefkada? Traveler's cheques?
This is a new adventure for us after 8 years on Paxos which we knew well.

Would expect  plenty of ATMs in Lefkas town and in the bigger resorts like Nidri and maybe nearby Karya and Vasiliki but the same will apply to places that will take travellers cheques. Some tour companies are taking an interest in Lazarata so you may be lucky. We normally take cash and top up when we find an ATM. Am asking a friend on Lefkas about the tavernas via facebook so will come back soon. Pictures I have seen seem to show 2 or 3 in the square, would expect them to be very authentic up there, so would expect small choice but very good.
If you are on facebook you could try this link for info, mainly Dutch and German but they all speak English and its a helpful forum  https://www.facebook.com/Lefkas.Lefkada.Greece?fref=ts" rel="nofollow - https://www.facebook.com/Lefkas.Lefkada.Greece?fref=ts

Nidri does have several holes in walls and lots of good shops too

We used to do the trip over from Meganissi for that reason as no cash machines there

Susie and Rocdoc - After Paxos for 8 years it feels like we are going to a big Island!
Only 2 holes in the wall on the Island in Gaios. Both out of action on the same day!!!
We used to change travellers cheques at the Planos offices. Do you know if we can do something so old fashioned on Lefkas?
Looking forward to finding a nice boat for a few days of fishing and sunbathing.

Don't know what you mean Tina!

Oh no. Why did you have to mention it.
I was managing quite well knowing what was not going to be on the menu.
