Can anyone explain where San Rocco central square is. Is it the square behind the Liston at the end of Guildford.  Also what times do main shops close on a Saturday - I need to visit Profi, Expert and the bed shop on the main road out from town towards Kassiopi!

San Rocco is near the town end of the New Fort; look for Plateia G Theotoki Ionnou on a town map.

Dave is San Rocco square near the bus terminus and on the road which would take you towards the airport and Lefkimmi?
Also can anyone help with shop closing times on Saturday - I am aware the shops generally re-open some evenings but didnt think it was Saturday.

Sorry Sue I missed your question. Yes you are right about the location of San Rocco Square.

I can't precisely help you about shop opening hours but I seem to think that the majority of stores are open in Corfu Town on Saturday evenings. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

I think smaller shops not aimed at the tourist trade (such as opticians, bookstores and small boutiques) usually close about 2:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday. Supermarkets like Dimitra and Sconto stay open at least till 6 pm, maybe later. In my experience stores like Expert follow the set schedule of closing early (2 - 3 pm) on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

There you are Sue - if you wait someone will always come up with some accurate information.

Good stuff Dasia. Very useful for future reference. Thanks.

San Rocco (Platea Thetotoki) is not the one at the end of Guilford Street, behind the Liston, that is the Town Hall Square.

San Rocco is at the top of Alexandras Avenue and is also a local bus terminal.  It can also be reached by leaving the Liston at the top of the cafes, so you turn 'inland' with the old fort at yout back.  Walk along, past the back of the town hall on your left and a bit further the National Bank on your rightm, keep straight on past Marks and Spencers, on your right, and you come into San Rocco Square.

Shops close at 2pm on Saturdays, however supermarkets, and places like Profi will be open until 6pm.
