Hi all. We have been going to Moraitika for around 24 years. It's like a second home to us and as soon as we step off the plane we say we're home. We always go for a fortnight but this year we are going for 3 weeks so it's going to be particularly hard leaving. The more we think about it the more we want to move out there. Has anyone on here made the big leap? Any advise would be helpful.

Hi Nikki,
Like you, we love Corfu, been going there for many years and it's like a second home to us. So, when we retired we decided to spend 3 months each year for 3 years renting different properties. We went in different seasons so covered most of the year over the 3 years. We loved it, although missed our family, even though they came out to stay. All I can say is living there is very different from being on holiday! I would recommend you to spend a winter there before making any decisions.
No doubt other members of the forum who have moved out will be able to give good advice.

Thank you this is very helpful. Although we've talked about it lots of times and my parents and family and friends have all been going for years and am sure more to come, we really don't want to wait until retirement age.
We have a 17 yr old and an 8 year old. I keep telling the older one to meet a Greek and buy us a house out there . We are just not sure what to do. We are going to spend 3 weeks out there this summer to explore a bit more x

We rent out an apartment in Acharavi all year round and get out whenever we can. We also have friends who have made the move permanently but rent in case they ever feel they need to return to the UK. The winter's in Corfu are soooo different to the Summer that I would recommend anyone thinking of moving over there to rent at first and spend at least a few weeks of the rainy season over there.
Also, get good expert advice. It can be a minefield moving/buying in Corfu.
Good luck
