Ah Bless how romantic. You could try To Kyma restaurant as they have a wonderfull view over the harbour and the likes. Or on the harbour itself.

Good luck and hope she does not read this - I assume she doesn't know

Hi,
I second To Kyma, sophisticated restaurant with delicious Greek food and reasonably priced. As Laineyt says, right on the harbour front.

Sure she doesn't. I hope it'll be a surprise Wink
There are ruins of the castle on the hill just above our Kassiopi Bay hotel. Are there some suitable places for walking and points with breathtaking sea view? Maybe this place is more ivy-blush and also good for my intentions?

Hi StarMel,
Have a look at the virtual tour on the Kassiopi Bliss site.

Hi, Elliemay! Thank you for the great tour! It's just what needed!;-) The hill top is not easily accessible and adopted for walking, as far as I can see.

The walk up to the castle is a bit rough in places, but worth the effort.
I hope all goes well with your proposal. Thumbs Up

Oh this is so romantic, Alex when are you going, and when are you thinking of popping the question???
Maybe if any of us are there we could organise a surprise engagment party in one of the bars. I love a good party XXX
That is of course if she says yes!!!

Ellenjay - Angevine is also a good one as well.

Starmel - I think you are spoilt for choice really. I agree with Mossa that the walk up to the castle is a bit hit and miss, also depending on when you are going determins the mossie factor up there as well. How romantic it would be to be up in the castle and being bit to within an inch of your life. I think the all the restaurants mentioned, if you could have a quiet word with the waiters or owners what you intend to do would help set the scene as they love romantics. After all Aphrodite the Greek goodess of love after all.

We'll be on Corfu from September 17 till September 28 : 17-22 in Messonghi, 22-23 in Corfu Town and 23 -28 in Kassiopi. In fact I have no exact plan about time and place of this exciting event for a while.
Maybe on romantic nightout just before leaving (Sept 27). Or not to delay untill the holiday end?... What do you think? Smile
And still hesitating between some populous places (as taverna or bar) or more secluded points (beach or rock above the sea, in Paleokastritsa or Kassiopi). On one hand don't want to embarrass her too much by putting her into the public spotlight as her spoken English is far from perfect. On another this should be a memorable moment. Wink
But it's also tempting idea to organize party, make friends and have funClap What does engagement party look like?

Yeah, the choice is truly wideClap Thank you for tips about the castle hill, restaurants down in Kassiopi will be more suitable for the moment than cliff-climbingBig smile

I don't know Kassiopi very well, but a number of years ago, my husband and sons were fishing at a jetty, and I sat in the shade in a bar cut into the rocks.
Beautiful location-I'm sure it was at the edge of the village.

I think Trilogia is very romantic, get there early evening and you can watch the sun go down overlooking the sea above Pipitos beach plus the food is great if a little more expensive than some. Its just after the Kassiopi Bay Hotel so very handy.

Trilogia is romantic but if you are not looking for a resturant I think Eucalyptus bar at the end of the harbour, personally anywhere in Kassiopi is romantic because thats where we had our honeymoon and thats why we return every year

Lol StarMel, an engagment party is when all your friends get together to celebrate your forthcoming marriage. Here in the UK we celebrate all special events with a good old "knees up" (you may have to google that), hope you find your perfect spot, after all (hopefully) you only have to do this once in your life, so make it as memorable as you can.
Good luck with your quest.

The Sunset taverna, best views on Corfu. Book an excursion through Cosmic excursions and tell them what you are doing and they may be abel to organize a little something special as well.

Agree that the rooftop bar in the Cavalieri is fabulous. How about the early evening boat taxi from Kassiopi to Corfu town - presuming the response is 'yes' the boat back late evening would be very romantic.

Maybe yes, Corfu is so romantic and enchanting place by itself and I think there would be no lack of suitable places! And dozens of tavernas and bars with fabulous atmosphere and views... mmm. The choice is really stunning. Looking forward to landing on the island Wink

Reading Gerald Durrell now and falling in love with Corfu HeartAnd my girl loved it much more earlier — "My Family and Other Animals" is her favourite book. This travel is her dream coming true.

Boat trip is also a must I think because we both adore the seaSmile

If you love Gerald Durrell what about the White House at Kalami. Been a few years sine I went but it used to do lovely food and seen as that is where he lived would that not be the perfect setting looking over the sea at Kalami

If you like the idea of a boat into corfu town for the evening suggest you email Iakis on mailto:info%28at%29dailycruisescorfu.com" rel="nofollow - info(at)dailycruisescorfu.com . He operates an evening service on Tueday and Thursday evenings and if you tell him of your intentions am sure he could arrange for champagne for the return journey which would be wonderful. He leaves Kassiopi at 5ish and returns around 10 oclock. Good luck xx

THE ANSWER WAS "YES"!!!

I'm really happy!!!Heart And here is a little report of this day as was promised Wink

I tried to create romantic atmosphere all day long. The morning started with a bunch of flowers.

N.B. I had no idea that it's such a problem to get fresh flowers in Kassiopi! The hotel manager Andreas helped me to order a delivery from Sidari (!) where the nearest flower shop is.

Then we hopped on the bus and went to Canal d'Amour in Sidari. We were a little bit disappointed first when we saw it, but it turned up to be the "old" big Canal ruined by sea. Locals showed that very Canal d'Amour and we loved its turquoise waters, marvelous sandstone rocks and caves. So we spend a nice time swimming, tanning, sitting on the juts above the water and climbing uphill to enjoy breathtaking panoramas from there. So after a light snack got the bus back to Kassiopi.

That Very Place was chosen at the ruins of the Fortress on the hill. We walked there day before and a sunset view was stunning and so romantic indeed! Besides it was not long climb (though little bit steep) as our hotel stands right by the wall of the Fortress. So we decided to go there once more and this fitted my plans)

Need to say that She had no idea about anything until the moment when we were standing on the stones of the wall and I kneeled saying "Would you marry me?" and putting ring on her finger. That was a moment of real happiness and joy and it's hard to depict by words! She said "Da, da, da!!!" ("Yes, yes, yes!!!") She dreamed of this so long indeed and now dream came true.

Then we walked down the hill to the restaurant to celebrate the engagement. Choosing from dozen places recommended in this thread I finally stopped at the very first variant. Manager Andreas was helpful to reserve the table in To Kyma restaurant. And though some mess with the dates happened (they waited us a day before) nevertheless the romantic dinner was great: delicate dishes and fine Greek wine.

It was an unforgettable day and I'm so thankful to all of you who helped with advices and supported me in this undertaking!!!Hug

Corfu and particularly Kassiopi stays in our loving hearts as the most beautiful and romantic place in the world where dreams come true!Heart

Alex
