Hi all,
Arrived home on Tuesday after a lovely first holiday in Ag Grdios, staying in the wonderful Steven's on the Hill. The hotel was all I'd read it was going to be and more. For anybody going there for the first time, you will not be disappointed Smile
As for Ag Gordios itself- a lovely little resort although it was very quiet. Yes, quiet in the peak weeks of August. We went to a variety of restaurants at different times and they were all ranging from 3/4 full to empty.
There were more restaurants in Ag Gordios than I expected but hardly any bars as such.
Robin's nest was friendly,  Mike's bar (again very welcoming) but always empty. On 2 occasions we were the only ones there, even when we were leaving at gone 1am. Time-Out was good for snacks and watching the olympics on the TV but I'd say our favourite for music (and probably the busiest) was Madison garden. Apart from the Lemon Tree which we didn't visit (being a cocktail bar) I can't think of any more bars. Not sure if there were a few we missed?
We did have a lovely holiday and A.G. is on my list of places I'd visit for a second time. However, there were loads of wasps around which were very annoying when they'd come in 3's or 4's land in our food. The burning coffee worked as long as they brought it to you in time (at least 10 mins before food was served). My hubby and 2 sisters all had one sting each.

Hi Shirley, weve been back a week & a half, we stayed at the Loxidos by the bridge seperating Sidari to the Canal D'Amuor. We spent most days at Agios G beach (we had a car) as we love that beach have been going for years, but we have never stayed at the Agios G resort cause we love it at Sidari so its the best of both Agios G by day Sidari by night,Thumbs Up

Hi Razaker,
Do you mean Agios Gordios on the west coast or the one nearer to Sidari which is Agios Georgios (NW)?

NW Agios, just love spending the full day there, ideally we should go there, but I do love Sidari. Last time I rented a villa up at Spartillas we missed the people weve made friends with in Sidari, so the following year a package deal back to Sidari & a car to take us over to Agios every day, best of both..Thumbs Up

Shirley that's a lovely report on your holiday in Agios Gordios and it's good to hear that Stevens is as great as ever. I'm there again next Month so thanks for your tips on eating and drinking places. Is Madison Garden the place run by an American lady and stays open as long as someone is drinking?

David, I do beleive the bar in question (run by the lady from Chicago) is Robins Nest Big smile

Madisons is the classy cocktail bar a little further down...

Hey we went to both!

Madisons plays very chilled music, very current music (they played the Black Keys 'Lonely Boy' whilst we were there first night, and tried to please us every night after that!)...
Whilst at Robins Nest she sussed we liked Led Zep...and played it  each night as we walked in!

We did Madisons earlier, when we were compus mentis...Embarrassed...and Robins Nest after 11 ish, it isnt loud or rowdy by the way, the staff are all geared to totally looking after you...and Robin herself drinks Tsipouro....and joins in every conversation LOL. Both bars are fabulous... xxxxx

Hi,
It sounds great at Agios Gordios, I too have never been south of Corfu Town as yet.
Just to confuse matters further Razaker, there are three St. Georges in Corfu, to my knowledge. Agios Georgios NW, Agios Gordios and Agios Georgios South.
It's no wonder everyone gets confused. Confused  Confused  Confused

Agios Gordios is like the one in the middle so to speak. It lies  broadly South West of Corfu Town and is the subject of this particular Forum. Wink

Thanks for the replies about Robin's Nest. I thought the lady hailed from Chicago but because it's two years since I've been there and I think I may have had a couple of drinks before I left the premises my recall was somewhat hazy!!

ROGER RAYMOND you are probably right but I'm not travelling alone this time so my guess is that my Fiancée and I will try Madison's out as well. We do love a cocktail. Big smile

Yes there are 3 St Georges as you say Elliemay.  We stayed in Agios Gordios SW and I'd say it's also slightly SW of Corfu town.

You're all spot on about the bars- Robbin's Nest is run by Robin from Chicago.  We had many chats with her over cocktails. She's very welcoming and the bar has a hippy type feel to it.

Madison Garden played very current chilled music which we loved and their friendly service was second to none. On leaving during our last visit there, we were told that we'd brought the bar luck that night as it was empty until we walked in and then a steady stream piled in as though a bus had pulled up outside lol.
