Hi all, we're returning to Paleo in August after a gorgeous week last year.
I'm ashamed to admit we didnt explore very much, so apart from a trip to paradise beach and a trip to Corfu Town we pretty much headed to the beach at the Apollon. We're returning for two weeks, and will have a little more time to explore. Could anyone please tell me if the beach near Akron is quieter/livelier than the one at the Apollon? And if its worth a trip to maybe Lakones or a bit further afield, for more traditional life/food/hospitality??? Thank you

I would try the next resort South of Paleo, Liapades. Has a nice village up the hill and the walk down to the beach has plenty of bars/tavernas for a pit stop.

Lakones is a must do. Walk to the Golden Fox for a beer and a swim and then perhaps lunch at Boulis grill room in the village before you walk back down to Paleo.
I agree with Nigel - Liapades beach is nice. Alison |

We love Akron beach, you can sit at the bar and look out to sea. Food is good and gentle music to chill to. There is a pool if you fancy a change from the sea. Arrie and staff are lovely and great to chat to.
We think it is quiter than the Apollen end, not so much traffic. Have a great holiday. We are there 1st 2 weeks September. Counting the days.

The Akron beach can be fairly busy but you can still get space around you which sometimes is not the case at the main Appollon beach. The bar, pool and food is lovely at the Akron and certainly worth a day there.
I would try a walk or drive elsewhere too- in Lakones or beyond you will find great food, hospitality and lovely views. Pop over to Liapades or Doukades to have a walk through the villages and then stop for a lovely lunch-well worth doing.

Is the correct name for the Akron beach Agia Triada? Or am I thinking of another?

Must remember to try the Akron this year. I absolutely love it that even after five or six years there are still places right under my nose to try. Trouble is I'd have to stay for about a month now to tick off all the places I have to re-visit to eat.
Now, I must get it right, The Greek Way moved down to in-between the shops near the abandoned Oceanis hotel, right? As the guy that used to be there moved to the old Moody Blue site? Although since I learned how to make my own Keftedakia sauce (tinned tomatoes, pureé, lemon juice, olive oil and oregano (naturally), but the real trick is lots of cinammon and some nutmeg) I should try something else. I've always been terrified by that cake-sized filled pancake stack thing on his photo-menu... As far as I'm aware, the shortest route to Liapades beach is to trek up to t'other end of the resort to the Acapulco, down the steps and swim over. |

I think the Akron beach is also called Agia Triada, situated below the Akrotiri Hotel. The Greek Way is where the Moody Blue used to be [ie nearer the Paleo Inn than it used to be].
If you go to Lakones, not only go to Boulis for an evening meal, but during the daytime, call in at the bakery next door, for coffee, wonderful cakes and a fabulous view on the terrace overlooking Paleo. Whilst in Doukades, call in at the Taverna Elizabeth for a meal. Now I have to admit that on first sight it is not the sort of place that seems an obvious choice, just like their front room really. You can sit inside or sit at the tables on the edge of the road [you may have to move the table and chairs if a large vehicles comes through!!!] while you watch the world go by and also get a feel of Corfu village life. But I can assure you the food is fantastic and well worth the visit. For any real ale lovers, look out for bottles of Corfu Brewery beer, as my grandson would say, "It's lush" . I believe it is available in a few places on draught, but I've not seen any in Paleo. Brewery visits last year were available on a Saturdays 12.00 - 17.00, near to San Stephanos [W]33 sleeps to go!

Really? Was I wrong, or does that mean The Greek Way has moved twice?
I'm sure when I was there a couple of years ago someone else was running a grill place on the Moody Blue site but The Greek Way was still going at the top of that high wall in the middle of the resort? |

Sorry my mistake, You are quite correct, the Greek Way is now where the Grill House used to be and the Grill House is where the Moody Blue was...I think!!! Hmmmmm yes that's it!
As many as 33 sleeps to go.

Hi,
The Greek Way is next door to the Maria Studios. We ate there a couple of times last June and will eat there again this June. Hope this helps. Kind Regards Tom and Marion

I have to agree with terry about Elizabeths in Doukades, we visited twice at the end of April when we were helping at the donkeys and the food is amazing, cant wait to go back. As it was a bit chilly in the evening still we sat inside but was brilliant when a Greek man walked past with his goats. A real villagey feel about the whole place..lovely...julesxxx

The Akron is lovely-quieter than the main beach but still things going on as they usually have water sports taking off from the wee jetty. The bar and pool are great and the food is really good quality and value.

Thank you all, yet again...I think the chilled out Paleo atmosphere has affected everyone on here. No one badmouthing restaurants, no one being snobby about the plumbing/accomodation!!!
I will try and visit some of the suggested places, but as we did last year, make loads of plans and then think...I'm not moving from the most breathtaking scenery!! Although cruel, we WILL giggle when our coach drops us off at the Belvedere, whilst the rest of the bus are heading to Sidari and gasping in awe at our surroundings ![]() Yammas!!
