Hello

We go to Kalami first week in September and are looking to pre book a few tavernas/restaurants as there are eight of us and don't want to be disappointed by not being able to get a table.

We have seen mention made of occasional Greek nights/live music and would like to take advantage of those where possible.

Does anyone know what nights the various tavernas put on music etc. so that we can book accordingly.

Thanks

For a Greek night go by boat to Nicholas in Agni (Thursday night). You can book this in Kalami at the tourist office.
In September you should not have a problem with a table at any taverna but always worth calling in the previous day to reserve. None of the tavernas have music although the A&A does have karaoke & quiz nights.

They also do fantastic Greek food at Roumelis in Nissaki, and traditional music I think it is either a Friday or Saturday night. Also spit roast pork or lamb on these nights too. Sorry can't remember which nights. Sure someone else will have the answer or you can ring them on 26630 91638.

The A&A also has one night a week where they have traditional Greek dancing and music. Always worth a visit and great to join in.

Spit roast at Roumelis on Friday I believe - thoroughly recommended although you will need a car or taxi from Kalami.

Good singer/songwriter/guitarist at A&A, Keith Mitchell on Tuesday nights. Plays requests from a list, sixties and seventies. He is very good.
Be happy always!

Just got back from Kalami and the A&A last night.

A&A - Greek night every Sunday. It was very busy both weeks we were there and very lively. They will save a table for you and the food is very good. Not an extensive menu but cheaper than the other tavernas.

Dimitri's - Up the hill. Traditional Greek music with Dimitri on guitar and an old guy on accordion, singing while you eat your meal. He tells some stories of the traditions of the songs too. Very nice evening, much more laid back. Good food, nice atmosphere and stunning views.

Nicholas Taverna, Agni - Greek night on Thursday. Didn't go but spoke to someone who did and said it was excellent. £25pp, three course meal, wine and water. Pick up by boat.

Hope this helps a bit.

Nikolas Taverna Greek night, 25 euros per head, excellent entertainment with a very good bouzouki player, dancers etc.
The 'old' guy at Dimitris' restaurant is Dimitris too!  There occasionally used to be a violinist who was also Dimitris.

Hello Bank of Dad,

Plenty to keep you going, Dimitri's (Book at Sunshine Travel, lift there and lift back with George) and Dimitri on guitar and Dimitri on accordian play on a Friday night and a Saturday night, Angeliki at Sunshine Travel will sort it all out for you.
A&A have Keith Mitchell's acoustic juke box every Tuesday a great night, everybody can choose three songs from his song sheet of 200 songs! that he can perform. Saturday has a Greek trio, keyboard, guitar and singer doing some great music with an area clear for those that want to dance. Sunday is Greek Night lots of fire! lots of very good dancing with accompaniment from some of the bar staff!! Well worth a visit.
But my favourite has to be Taverna Nicolas at Agni, from the boat ride (water taxi) from the jetty at Kalami that starts what has to be one of the most memorable nights of any ones holiday. The 25€ cost covers the boat ride, all the food and wine and all of the entertainment and for what it all entails it's a bargain, George the Bazooki player has to be one of the best in Greece, and then the ride home to Kalami with Captain Yiannis (lay back and look up at the stars) a great end to a great night.

Many thanks for all the useful information.

Can I ask, do you have to be a resident at A&A to attend their Tuesday night bash as we are staying in a private villa.

No, you dont have to be a resident. Just turn up...or it might be best to book a table at the height of the season.
and Charlie, Nia and Daniel's Gran too
