Hi all, just to let you all know, nothing much changes over here! People still don't know how to use the roundabout in Moraitika. We were going round it this afternoon, when a tourist bus, complete with holidaymakers on board, (TUI) went the wrong way round and cut straight in front of us.
Luckily, we were going slowly, as we know how people drive round, over, through it.
Lovely weather over here at the moment & more tourists arriving everyday.  Smile

The coach drivers are a law (!!) unto themselves anyway!.  Must admit though that I am also very wary when taking the roundabout as we have also encountered some complete idiots on it.

On the rare occasions that I've taken the wheel I've only managed to negotiate the roundabout once without any problems.  I have been known to stop the car prior to reaching it and get the other half to drive! Embarrassed

What I can`t understand, is why the council don`t paint white lines at every junction on the roundabout & also put up give-way signs.
Or maybe the council don`t understand roundabouts either!!

Just outside Argostoli, Kefalonia there is a road with three roundabouts on it.

Our car hire man warned us that vehicles on the roundabout have to stop and allow oncoming traffic to pass. And they did - and it seemed wierd!Confused

The husband was driving, fortunately as I might have panicked!Ermm

Also on Kefalonia... there's a long, straight road that heads to to Saint Gerasimos monastery and there's a big roundabout on that, but there is no other road! Just a roundabout with the 2 exits!

Still, it was quite safe at least...

The Moraitika/Messonghi roundabout has no signs to state it is a roundabout! Some drivers give priority to the left whilst others give priority to those coming along the Corfu town/St George road therefore stopping on the roundabout to allow these cars through.Clap

I have to say I didn't have any problem negotiating it in July when we were staying in St George South.  For some reason driving on the right hand side all clicked into place in my mind this year (finally!)  But we did see one or two interesting manouvres from other drivers, both Greek and not!

We drove our hire car to Corfu Airport yesterday, and had to negotiate that crazy junction on the main airport approach road.  Traffic comes from all directions, and it's unclear who should give way to whom. Either that or drivers just seem to take a chance and hope for the best!
Definitely needs traffic lights, because I think a roundabout would lead to more chaos, especially with UK drivers, since the roundabout rules are different on the continent.Confused
