Hi, Been to Corfu several times, St Georges (South), Barbati, Agni (2 day visits), toured the island a few times, but fancy taking my 10 year old son to Kaminaki, it looks gorgeous and just what we want, will there be enough for him to do, will there be any other children around, we share snorkelling, playing in the sea, going out on boats etc., so no electronics required? Also, are the mozzies any less being so close to the sea front as we are hopeless with them, I may as well just have a tattoo saying "mozzie food here, help yourself"!![]() |

Still haven't stopped there myself, but certainly been told several times that that stretch of coastline (from Nissaki onward) is the best snorkelling around Corfu.

Hi Gazzaw
A Joefish says, the north east coast (from Nissaki northwards) is excellent for snorkelling - due to the fact that there are no sandy beaches, which ensures very clear water. I would add that the sea on the east cost tends to be warmer than on the west, due it being sheltered from the prevailing wind and somewhat more shallow.
The beach is quite small and, in sailing terms "steep to" - that is, it gets very deep, very quickly.
Kaminaki is a very small resort, with only a couple of tavernas (and a very steep hill up to the main road).
Hope this helps.
Martyn

Ah, the particular joys of trying to negotiate a steep hill in wet flip-flops. A good workout for the calves and the big and second toes.

Joe - I would think twice about walking up that particular hill in hiking boots!

Hi Gazzaw
My husband and I stayed a week in Kaminaki in June of 2011. We didn't have any trouble with the mossies, but it may have been a bit early in the season.
The beach isn't large but the snorkeling was wonderful! The water is very clear, my husband spent hours with his head under the water!
There is a boat hire right that off the beach so renting a boat for the day is pretty convenient. There were not many children there when we were but again we went early June. The taverna right on the beach is wonderful and everyone there very friendly and helpful. We had more than enough to do but we were looking for a quite vacation. Our villa also had a pool which was a nice addition to the sea. Hope you have a wonderful time! We hope to go back in 2015, it is a little bit of a haul for us being in the US and all.

Gary, you can also take the path past Asterio's boat hire place and take a 5 minute walk to Krouzeri beach. There you'll find a board walk leading to the Nissaki Beach Hotel. Depending how busy they are you might be able to use their facilities. There's also a taverna and a scuba diving school, don't know their opening times. |

Hi, thanks everyone for your responses, love your comments, will not be walking up that hill if I stay, it will be in the village, but you have inspired me to go.
Still love the place so much, I'm going on my own in September15 purely on a "rekkie" of course for me and my son going next year ![]() I will be snorkelling and then recouperating on the beach, I may even hire a boat for a few days, can't wait, it will be a change from the Aquis Sandy Beach Hotel, whilst good, my god is it busy, but location, pools and food was excellent, but this is a much quieter break, making my own continental breakfasts and evening meals out, can't wait, maybe see you there, Cheers
