Having stayed in Agios a number of times, not as many as some of you (!!!), my wife and I have decided it's time for a change. We have considered long and hard but, maybe, just this time, we would like to try somewhere else on another island. We will miss the beach, the locals and all that the village has to offer and I'm sure we will be back.
So, what do we want? Something very similar to AG but on another island. A small village with a sandy beach, perhaps a choice of pools, a few supermarkets and enough tavernas to keep us going for the fortnight. I know, it sounds just like AG. Finally because of mobility problems somewhere on the flat with everything fairly close together would be brilliant.
Any of you experienced island hoppers have any suggestions.
Here's hoping and thanks in advance

Hello Snehpets, I'll start you off with Agia Efimia in Kefalonia (Also see here). It hasn't a beach as such but more of a pebble/shingle cove with a harbour, a bit like Kassiopi. The place is close to local attractions such as Melissani lake, Drogorati caves, Sami (very close by and where Captain Corelli's Mandolin was set and shot and where ancient Sami is situated) as well as within easy driving distance of Assos, Fiskardo and the beautiful Myrtos beach.
The island is beautiful, easily accessible with friendly locals. Sami close by also offers ferry trip to Ithaka. I never stayed in this resort but I visited a few times and it was attractive with a nice feel about the place. Hope this helps. Dean

We are AG lovers as well but must admit Pefkos Rhodes comes a close second. Choice of 3 shallow sandy beaches, great tavernas, not too hilly, and easy access to other resorts by boat or road.

Was also going to suggest Pefkos, very friendly, enough there not to get bored, easy access to Lindos (fabulous, a must - do), and although have never been to Ag Gordios, it does seem quite similar, except that there arent really restaurants and bars on the beach in Pefkos, but plenty of them in the roads leading down to the beach. Good luck making your choice

I must also mention Skiathos. Lovely island, one main road with all resorts leading off it. We stayed at Agia Pereskevi which is next door to Troulos. Superb beaches especially Koukanaries and Banana beach, again easy access to all resorts via bus service, also can go to Scopelos by boat where Mama Mia was filmed. Would definately go back.

Paleochora in south west Crete is lovely, 2 beaches- one sandy and one stoney. Nice and flat. Roads closed at night so tavernas put their tables out in the street. A working village all year round so lots of locals wandering about. I think Sunvil are the only UK company that go there now.
Or maybe Stoupa in the Pelloponese. The possibilities are endless!!

I agree with others that Pefkos would be a good alternative. It is a resort similar in many ways to A.G.

Hello Snehpets,
A bit of an afterthought but I remembered there are some photo's of Pefkos on my photo gallery. If you look in my gallery and click on Rhodes you can see them. I hope they will be of interest to you. ![]() Yammas, Colin.
