Hi, is anyone going to Gouvia this year, getting worried now, doesn't seem that much of a popular place. The Gouvia site looked good so booked our honeymoon there. In the past we've visited Paleo, Ipsos, Barbati.. and first holiday in St George South.
Hope someone will answer... Thanks

We have stayed twice at Spiti Prifti, between Gouvia and Kontokali.
I remember Gouvia being quite lively at night, particularly over the weekends.
The attraction for us is the proximity to Corfu Town, via the blue bus which runs until late evening so you can go there for an evening meal if you need a change of scene.
May I suggest Kokkoras taverna behind St Spiridon church - lovely for a romantic evening meal in my opinion.
Also the green buses to Paleo and to Ipsos/Barbati/Kassiopi run through Gouvia, so you can revisit some of your old haunts without hiring a car.
Have a great time!

Gouvia is quite relaxed by day, livelier at night. Visit Christos at the Orpheus taverna, and say hello to his gorgeous dog Moby....
Spiros does various boat trips from the jetty by the Venetian boatyard, less than 20 euros for a BBQ on a secluded beach, inclusive of drinks, or a romantic after dark trip to Mouse Island and Corfu town. Walk to the marina in between Gouvia and Kontokali and see how the other half live!!!

Hi Ellenjay, we are staying at the Club Beach Hotel, looked nice, wooden sunbeds with matresses, double beds, complete with all facilities. First time to Gouvia.

Babba Yannis on the main street is a nice restaurant, there's also one near the crossroads who's name escapes me which does amazing souvlaki. The place on the beach does great Greek dancing. There's a genuine psitaria in Kontokoli that serves grilled meats and salads, dont let the literal translation of food contents put you off!! i.e. If something is stomach stuffed with something, it'll say that on the menu, they wont give it a fancy name like 'haggis'

Thanks Rick_chef, very helpfull. I will venture out of the resort a few times. I can tell you where there is also a very nice place to eat, it's where the locals eat too (this is also a very good tip). Well actually I don't know the name of it, it's on the main road to Ipsos, just past Dassia. You go past the antique place going towards (it's on the left hand side) It's behind bushes a quite hard to notice when driving past, you'd have to slow down to notice it. Highly recommend!!
