Regular visitors to Ag Georgis NW, Arillas, Ag Stefanos NW, Sidari and Roda may know that a new Inter-Resort Bus service ran in August/September last season as a trial. I thought it was a great idea and planned to use it this summer but my search of internet didn't confirm if it would run. I sent an email and here is the reply I received. Obviously I have emailed Thomas Cook and will update if they reply to me. But the present position is No Inter-Resort Bus Service this season.

 Greetings Dave,

Thank you for getting in touch.

In answer to your question, despite strenuous efforts on my behalf, the future on the Inter Resort Bus Service rests in the hands of Thomas Cook, who have so far this year, resisted backing the scheme. As TC and Thomsons control the biggest number of passengers travelling to this region the scheme really depends on their active support in order work as a commercial venture. I have been in contact with both companies at Director level, and although Thomson are happy to back the service, they are only willing to do so if Thomas Cook agree to do so first, and, despite TC being very keen at the end of the last season, they have informed me they do not wish to support it this season, although they will leave the final decision to the on-site Corfu Island Manager, Simon Lindsay.

I funded the trial venture with personal funds last year as a market test, but cannot afford to repeat it this year. It certainly proved very popular, and your's is just one of many requests for information I have received since. However, at this point int time, and unless TC change their minds it doesn't look as if the bus service will operate this season.

You are welcome, and I would encourage you to write to Simon Lindsay, and you never know, if customer pressure is brought to bear, he may change his mind. His email address follows: Corfu.DestinationManager(at)thomascook.com (Simon Lindsay)

Many thanks for the compliment. I am glad you like our web site.

Very best regards
Herman Mittelholzer

As requested by Herman I have today emailed Simon Lindsay at Thomas Cook pointing what a useful service this bus would be for visitors to the NW.
Perhaps others will do the same.

Maybe one of the bigger bus companies like Tsokas would be interested in running a service like this - if it will pay for itself.  I didn't know about the service last year but would have used it if I had known - I have always thought it was a shame that getting from resort to resort was limited on the public bus service.

I've had a reply from Thomas Cook; looks like a definite 'no' from them.

Firstly thank you for your email.  Having discussed this venture at length on a number of occasions at this point in time we will not join this venture. However of course we wish it every success.

Kind Regards / Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Met vriendelijke groeten / Meilleurs salutations

Hi,
Obviously depends on whether it a viable proposition or not. Agree though that it was a great idea. Smile
