We are looking at booking a holiday to Gouvia at the end of June. We are looking for a nice family friendly place. Is it very lively there and full of youngsters? We don't mind a few bars but don't want somewhere with a hectic nightlife. Keppi

Hi Keppi

The best place to stay in Gouvia is Spiti Prifti. The apartments, swimming pool and grounds are excellent, but you do get a bit of road noise as it is on the main road but you soon do not notice it. It is good for families.
We have been going there for several years and wouldn't go anywhere else in Corfu. Eleni and her staff are brilliant and very welcoming.
The pool bar serves food all day and evening. There are several restaurants nearby, especially in Kontakali which is about the same distance as the centre of Gouvia.
Bus stop just outside for Corfu Town and other parts of the island.
Nightlife is fairly quiet based mainly around tavernas and a few bars.
Just contact Eleni via her website at Spiti Prifti.

Thank you for the info. We have actually found a holiday through Thomson, it's very difficult to get flight times, price etc right for a big group!! But found a good deal to Hotel Park in Gouvia.

Think we are booking later Big smile

Hi,
We have been going to the Park Hotel for many many years. It is a fantastic hotel and the pool area and gardens are great. When in June are you going and how many of you?
We will be going on the 24th June. If you need any information please let me know and I will try to answer any questions you or your party have.

We are going 28th June for the week. 6 adults and a toddler. Me and my hubby just got back from a week in Kalami, we drove past the Park Hotel. I am concerned about the main road we have to cross to get to the beach etc, there looked like a safe crossing there though? Any resturaunt recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Keppi

Hi Keppi, yes the road is bad you have to be very careful. We don't go into Gouvia a lot but that's our choice. There are some good restaurants but we do not like recommending because what we may like others don't, but some to look for are.
Leons (newish) Muses, Philipas and Vegina.
We prefer the other side of the island for beaches. We go to Gouvia because we have so many friends there.
I am sure you will enjoy it. We find Greece so relaxing as a holiday destination. If we see a group with 6 adults and a child we will say hello.

Thanks for the advice. We are planning on getting a car and exploring a bit and getting the bus to Dassia for the day.
Yes, please keep an eye out for us and say hello. We will have an older guy with a white beard with us and a little boy of almost two running around. Hope to see you next month! Keppi

You can also get the blue bus into Corfu town from near the Park Hotel.

I would agree with the above post about Spiti Prifti, the pool bar area is very good, with shade for your little one if you need it.

Argostoli in 12 weeks!

Hi Keppi its a shame. We will be going for 3 weeks and on our 3rd week family will be coming out just for the week with a nearly two year old as well so please have eyes at the back of your head as we know from experience as far as children are concerned they are like Greece lightening.   sue

What's Gouvia like as a resort is it compact and traditional, looking at going but don't want to commercialised, like small and village feel.

Sorry for the (very) late reply. I wasn't overly keen on Gouvia as a resort, I found it a bit run down. There were a few very nice restaurants but that was about it. The Park Hotel was great, and it was a great location to get around the Island, but I would not stay there again. We will definitely stay in other parts of Corfu next time, we liked Dassia, Ipsos and our all time fave, Kalami. Keppi
