I went alone in May and yes it is very friendly in a good way, but if you get any unwanted attention, just rebuff in a firm but polite way, happened a couple of times whilst I was there but they soon got the message and I wasn't bothered by them again. Its common sense to keep your wits about you. The Greek islands are one of the few places I would holiday alone and do so on a regular basis. Whilst in Paleo I met 3 other females and 3 males who were also holidaying alone - I guess they felt the same.

Ok I know loads of people now and meet up with friends but I always travel alone and stay alone. I have never in 15 years had any trouble. No-one bothers you at all and in fact people are anxious that you are having a nice time. if a guy asks you out it is no different to in our own towns-except the Greek people have manners and will go if you say No thanks. Don't worry, you will be fine.

Hi,
I'm new on here so just droping by to say hi. I will be coming to Paleo in May for a week on my own. I have read posts and am sure it's safe. I was wondering how easy it is to get around on buses, as I don't drive. I will be visiting Corfu town which seems easy to do but I would also like to visit Kalami, Kouloura, Kassiopi and areas around Paleo. How regular are the buses? Also, will the sea be cold? Any info you can offer I will be very glad to hear. Yammas Caramel |

Using the island bus service is fantastic.
The routes the Green Bus Service take will often take you through villages you otherwise would never see. ![]() Here is a link to the Island bus timetable http://www.allcorfu.com/ou-buses.html This link will give you information about both the Blue and Green bus services. Yammas, Colin. |

I may be wrong but I suspect that the only buses from Paleokastritsa will go to Corfu town as most routes are like the spokes of a wheel. So to visit those places you mention on the east coast you will have go into Corfu town and change buses. You may need taxis to do what you want or hopefully you might be able to book a coach trip from a travel agent in Paleo. The sea in May will not have warmed up very much but many visitors don't mind and enjoy their swims! |

Many thanks for the bus timetable Weststekker, that will come in handy. I was thinking that I could get a bus from Paleo to Kassiopi or Sidari. It looks like to see places I want to see i will have to go to Corfu town and get another bus, as you said Dennis. Not a problem but the busses finish about 6pm and I just have to cram as much into my week as I can. Still, I will go with the flow, I am just excited to be going to Corfu. I was last there 20 years ago and a 2nd visit is way overdue. I went to Zakynthos twice last year and am chuffed to bits to be going to Paleo. I will be in the sea, however warm or cold it may be, ha. Thanks guys

Hi Caramel,
We go from Paleo to Kassiopi on the local buses to see friends quite a lot. You get on the bus in Paleo but don't go all the way into Corfu town. Get off the bus at the traffic lights/cross roads.(where the road into Corfu town and the coast road to Kassiopi meet. You will see big signs saying Dassia/Kassiopi etc). Walk across the road when you come off the bus and you will see a bus stop for the bus to Kassiopi. Ask somebody if you are not sure and do the same again on your way back. It saves you going all the way into Corfu town and back. Hope you have a good time Kind Regards Tom and Marion

I am there from 18th May for a week, I nearly booked the Belvedere but went for the Apollon instead. So I will come and say Hi to you Paleogirl.
Thanks for the tip on getting to Kassiopi Tom and Marion. That will save some time, I just wish the buses ran a bit later. Never mind though, am sure there will be lots to see and do. I have to say that you guys are very helpful with advice and tips, it's much appreciated. Regards to you all Ann
