As there have been few posts on this part of the forum, I was wondering how the current problems have been affecting San Steph? Are the tavernas busy or quiet - are things busier now the school holidays have started? Is the rubbish still being collected most days as it was last year? And how are the locals coping, I hope they can still raise a smile!
We will be there in about 6 weeks, and really looking forward to it, and seeing the familiar faces

Hi Colin
Haven't been there since the end of June, but at that stage there was no impact whatsoever - indeed, the village seemed to be busier than in previous years. Tavernas were turning tables over during the evenings - haven't seen that for a while! Everyone we met was fairly upbeat! Damianos has had a refurbishment of the bar area - it's now much bigger, with the bar itself confined to the rear wall and the toilets moved to the right, behind the rear bar wall - the theme from the front seating area now continues throughout the bar. Bit of a shock to my system after 30 years! Rubbish was still being collected when we were last there. We arrive for two weeks on 30th August, which I reckon to be 5 weeks on Sunday - maybe we'll see you there? Martyn |

We arrive on the following Friday 4th Sept. Staying at the Renoula. Are you land based or floating about as I think you do? See you in the tavernas no doubt - we stay local every night, and visit each one to spread the money about. Thanks for the info.

There is a possibility that we will be floating the weekend that you arrive, but will be back in Stephanos from Monday 7th, so we may see you.

I'm an old baldy geezer with glasses and grey sideboards (had em since I used to dress in Italian suits back late 50s and 60s.) You will recognise me as I tend to wear a loose shirt as a cardy over a T shirt so the poor dress combo is hard to miss! Say hello if you spot me and we can have a gas, and maybe a beer.

To the Old Baldy Geezer. You will notice little if any difference, we went down to the village lunchtime and all was busy busy, even in the daytime the car park under the trees was full.
Everywhere is clean and tidy. So fear not. Cash is king though wherever you go, cards are of course accepted, but cash helps the wheels turn. Bob. |
