Hello everyone,

We are hoping to get married in Messonghi next June. My partner and his parents/family have been holidaying in Moraitika for over 30 years and we have been visiting together for the past few years.
We already have plans for where we will stay and in terms of the wedding we want a simple ceremony in the town hall, followed by photos on the beach and a nice meal. Then we will head back to out apartments for a bit of a party. (We will be hiring out all the rooms at the apartments so will have it to ourselves)

Where we are struggling is with the costs of the wedding administration or hiring a wedding planner. What we want to know is if it's possible to organise the admin side of things ourselves without the assistance of a wedding planner?

Does anyone think this is possible? Even for the cheapest wedding package only with Olympic it would be £329 plus the €100 admin fee for the town hall. We would still need to arrange all our paperwork and translation ourselves in the UK, this is not included in the above fees. The £329 would basically cover the arrangement of a license and then the confirmation of the wedding date and time and liaising with the relevant offices etc. Do you think it's possible to do this ourselves?

Thanks

Maggi

If you are going this summer, go to the consulate in Corfu town and the town hall and ask. You never know. The locals do it so I don't see why not.

Why not contact a wedding planner and ask how much they would charge to deal with the admin? Ionian Weddings based in Twickenham are actually from near Messonghi and would advise I am sure, or Ann Kantas in Corfu is fantastic, pm me for her number

We got married in Sidari 12 years ago. Got all the paperwork done here. Organized our own wedding, just got the rep to sort out the venue for wedding at Velonais town hall, and interoperate the ceremony for us. Maybe the locals you know could do the bit our rep did. Hope this helps. lol xxx

annekantas(at)hotmail.com OR Sally Jane Peacock (sally(at)keyislandservices.com)
Both ladies are wedding planners on Corfu. Sally has a website if you google her but not sure if Anne does. Both highly recommended and cover different areas of the island.

Sally is a lovely lady. I met her last year as she is arranging a wedding at my house in Kalami this summer.

Yeah she sent me an email yesterday, I'm hoping to hear from her today. My head is wrecked, there is so little time and this would be a dream come through for us if we can pull it together. Sally sounds wonderful I'm so glad I joined this forum, thank you all for the information, I just wish I could contact Costas in the Lualass Village hotel, I just know from what I've heard about him that he could help us, however, hotel not open yet.

Most places should open after Tuesday. This weekend is Orthodox Easter and the biggest holiday in the Greek calendar and probably equivalent to our Christmas. Suggest you try the hotel again later next week.
