We will be staying at the Corfu Mare hotel for a week in early September. Can anyone give me tips about getting around the town from here? eg roughly how far is it from the cricket area?

SmileSmile Thanks Davyboy. The walking bit may be awkward as I have knee surgery on my return. Are there any buses which run past the hotel going to town...or taxis??
We were in Kassiopi in June...hot and hot.

Its about 1.5km out of town, near the new Port. The bus to Dassia runs past the end of the road but not sure on times.  I think there may be a courtesy bus that runs into town (I'm sure I read that somewhere!!).  I have a friend who works there so I'll check.

Google maps will give you a route from your hotel to any point you want to visit in Corfu town. It even shows you the wicket on the ListonThumbs Up Have a great time.

Taxis will cost about 10 euros each way to get into town.
You can get the bus either on the main road, turning left out of the hotel (the bus from Dassia to Corfu town) or if you turn right out of the hotel, walk up the hill and catch the bus outside the mini-market. It costs 1.50 Euro if you buy a ticket on the bus or 1.00 Euro if you purchase the ticket in the mini-market.
There is a courtesy bus (2 Euros per person) in the evenings from the Hotel to the Old Town,
leaving at 19.30 and returning at 23.00.

Hope that helps!  Have a great time.Smile

SmileWinkThumbs Up Thanks Gill. That's just the ticket (pardon the pun) Second time in Corfu this summer. If its half as good as my week in Kassiopi in June, then that's OK by me.

Returned on 7th September from a weeks stay at the Corfu Mare. Unfortunately Gill, the courtesy bus is no more..not even mentioned. Most people either walked into town (apparently quite dull) or took the bus at the top of the road (1.1 euro) and returned by taxi (10 euro)
Lovely hotel but too far from the town for me and most of the other guests I spoke to
