Ten days to go and I'm starting to get really giddy now! My holiday clothes are all washed and ironed and hanging at one end of my wardrobe, my lotions and potions have all been decanted into travel-size bottles and jars and yesterday afternoon Mike and I finally sat down with Steve Ford's books and the map that I'd previously marked up with all the little villages and worked out rough plans for the days we've got the hire car.

One place we've never been before and would like to visit is the Achillion Palace. Does anyone know whether it will be open during Easter week please?

The Palace is open every day of the year, during the winter from 9.00am till 15.30pm, longer in summer. I hope this is true this year and I haven't given you duff info!
and Charlie, Nia and Daniel's Gran too

The Achilleon will be VERY busy in Easter week so I would go late in the afternoon (it is open until at least 7pm, in fact I think it may even be 8pm)

Well, we're back! The weather could certainly have been better - we lost count of how many locals told us that it was the wettest and coldest Easter they could remember. However, despite that, we had a fantastic time and if anybody is thinking of going to Corfu for Easter next year, all I can say is stop thinking and get planning - it's an experience you won't regret!

The first few days we had a hire car and spent our time discovering some the little hidden villages that Steve Ford writes about in his books. I've already posted a brief account and photos of some of the places we visited on the Ebook thread in the Kafeneon forum HERE

One of the things that I was most looking forward to seeing was the profusion of wildflowers that I'd been told cover the island at this time of year. I certainly wasn't disappointed! Here are a few of them -

Blossom, but I don't know what sort!

This is a bee orchid. I would have liked to have got this one face on, but it would have involved treading on a lot of other smaller flowers, so I decided to make the best of the side view.

Unidentified, but very pretty white thing!

Some more -

Possibly some variety or relative of sweet pea?

Dandelion and friends

Common mallow - doesn't look very common to me!

Beautiful pictures Elaine. I think the second picture is of an orchid, the others I do not recognise. apart from the mallow and dandelion, certainly a beautiful time of the year to visit.

Pam.....
