Sitting here at Kapareli watching the world go by, as you do.
The situation is much as I left it in November, the three main tavern jetties are still in place as is Eucalyptus. The three boat hire jetties are intact also.
Just The Wave and Damianos Bars' jetties and outside awning have gone. There are now large umbrellas in their places.
Damianos outside awning is now located at Harry's Boatyard giving him invaluable cover for working on the boats in the winter months. (Waste not want not )

No Idea, they can use any that's vacant. It won't be a regular one.

I've just printed out our boarding passes for the end of the month and excitement in the Burton household is increasing in the build up to our regular annual Ag Steph trip! But I can't quite believe how quiet these forums have been this year - why is this? I am assuming that scarcity of posts means that nothing much has changed in the village, which is a good thing, but surely there must be the odd story or two. Anyway, can't wait to get there and see for ourselves.

David, ask the Kapareli team if we are in the village, if so, come and say hello.

Ah, Kaparelli. Generally our first stop, and, if I can manage it, a stifado and a baklava. Getting (even more) excited.

Well, yes, we were there, and, yes, nothing much has changed, apart from the aforementioned umbrellas replacing the awnings at the two bars (these were collapsed on the one day of rain we had in an otherwise warm and sunny week). We did sense that Kaparelli and Galini were less bothered about hustling for land or sea trade than they used to be, leaving that to To Fagopotion. There was a bit of clearance going on on a site just around the harbour edge, but otherwise, new building work didn't appear to have progressed much since last year.
Yes, life in Agios Stephanos just pootles on gently, and all to the good. Looking forward to next year now.

Hi David

Yep - that just about sums it up

Will be running my tape measure over the village for the last time this season next week.

Hi Martyn
I assume there is still a week or two before they all shut up shop and it looks like weather is pretty good still. Hope all gets wrapped up and put away neatly until the new season. We (sadly) only get there for a week in autumn, but I'm seriously thinking a spring trip might be a good idea too, otherwise I'm restricted to the village view permanently on my computer screen and the occasional visit to these message boards (which have been less active this year I feel).
Love to all in A.S.

Only 21 days now before we can have a run down to SS and check out all the winter changes if any.
There was a recent thread on the" Corfu Forum" relating to the compulsory removal of jetties a little while age. Quite a bit of ranting as you can imagine.
I'm sure to get all the info from Costa when we get there.

Needless to say, the jetties are still in place for this season, but it sounds as if their days are numbered, we'll see.
About the only major change this season seems to be a new boat hire business.
Sotiris, son of Costas (San Stephanos Boats) has started up on his own and based at the Wave Bar as far as I can see.
All seems well with the village.

Thanks for the information Bob. Thought they might get away with the jetties as they are only small, and perhaps a deal could be done by spreading the costs. Do you think they will all go eventually? Be a bit of a problem for the sailing clubs when they arrive en-mass and want to park up together. Yes I know park up isn't the correct term but it suits a landlubber like me.

"Park up" is fine by me

Martyn

BTW - I didn't here anything about the jetties when I was there last week.

Forgot to mention this earlier - Damianos Bar has changed!

The bar area (inside) has had a serious revamp - it's now all pale wood and white walls (much like the bit nearer the road).

Much refreshed and modern - but still the same Damianos!

Hi Bob,
Wondering if you can help. I am looking for accommodation for next year in Agios Stephanos. We stayed there this year in Renoula and loved the village. There is a villa across the road from Renoula with an infinity pool and its within walking distance of Agios Stephanos, don't suppose you would know the name of it or of any villa with a pool within a short walk of the village. We dont hire a car and the 19-20 minute walk from most of the villas is too long for us. Hope the jetties are still there next year, we loved Agios Stephanos. Much appreciate any help you can give. Thank you. Annemarie

Can you tell me where Renoula is exactly, although we visit the village a couple of times a week, we don't stay there and have no knowledge of the villas.
If I have an idea where you are looking I can have a look next time we are down there.

Thanks Bob, you are very kind.  Renoula is at the end of the village on the right past Cocheli Taverna.  The villas I was looking at are on the hill behind Cocheli but don't worry I just thought you might know them as you are so familiar with the area.  I don't want you to go to any trouble, you enjoy your time in Corfu, I am envious especially looking out at the damp cold weather here in Dublin today!  I will sort out something, thank you for offering, much appreciated.

Google for Corfu, Agios Stefanos, Villa Foula, Villa Magda - you should get a link from that. The same lady owns both and both have infinity pools.
We stayed at Villa Foula two/three years ago and my mum loved watching all of the traffic on both road and water. I know that the villas have been refurbished since then.
Good position and there is a short cut down the hill, up the hill is better by road as the hill is quite steep. You will need a torch at night.
I hope this helps.
