Hi all. Well my sponsored 'walk' for the AAWF and the cats started this morning but due to a site hitch they haven't yet opened the map on the Fitbug site ..... So I am wandering around Beijing at the moment (well the kitchen in Boscombe really with my pedometer pinned to my jimjams).
To complete the walk within the 6 weeks I need to walk 10,000 steps a day - as I sometimes do a lot more walking at weekends I hope to finish in 4 weeks - all support financial or just to keep me going will appreciated.
If you would like to sponsor me I think an amount for the completed walk would be the best way - or per 100,000 steps (should be around 450,000 steps - but I will be able to put actual figures when Fitbug updates the Challenge site).
So for today I am in Beijing and it is warm and sunny - temperature expected today 30C ... and I am heading for??? I hope Fitbug update the page soon or I will be walking round in circles for days
Thanking you for your support in anticipation
AAWF will be updating their page with a note about my sponsorship

Hi there and it is the end of day three. I have now done 35,928 steps and I'm 77th out of 367 competitors. So my daily average is 11,976 steps a day. I have to do at least 10,000 steps a day to complete the challenge in the 6 weeks. I know from the last challenge I did that the weekends I tend to push up the steps - the highest being about 28,000 in a day ... my poor legs. On that challenge it was from Stockport to Bournemouth via London and I came in 4th, completing the challenge within 2 weeks instead of 4
So today I am walking through Shaanxi province of central China. This was the eastern end of the silk road and in 1556 suffered the most devastating earthquakes in history.
Feel free to chat or ask questions ... you don't need to sponsor me .. it would just be nice to know I aint talking to myself haha.

Update from yesterday (Tuesday) Day 8 and I have completed 109,518 and I am 60th out of 584 competitors :) I have now reached the Indian state of Bihar. I do wish I really was in India as the weather here in Bournemouth - cold and wet - can make it an effort to get out there and boost the steps. I went for a really long walk on Sunday and the weather up on the headland was warm but windy ..... when I got back I realised my nose was sunburnt and I look like Rudolph at the moment

Hi Jess and all
Very sorry for the delay in getting the details on our website. We have been really really busy here in Corfu with cat neutering. A great job done as we have just neutered 16 cats with a very special donation.
Our funds are very low so please support Jess in what she is doing for us and many thanks go to Jess for her support.
Donations can be made via 'The Big Give' button on our website, which I have now updated with Jess's walk.
Many thanks Jess
Regards
Angela in behalf of AAWF

Hi All. After 16 days (26 to go) and my brief trip to Wales (via India) I have completed 187,892 steps and I am 149th our of 885 competitors.
Bit worrying as I seemd to be off the coast near Asha Pura and walking ON the Arabian Sea - my practice in the flooded flat in Corfu seems to be paying off!!!
Please have a look at the AAWF site and, if you can, sponsor my challenge. The charity needs as much support as it can get - so any donation would be appreciated.

Hi guys. Sorry for the gap in updates but I seem to be working or walking. I have been walking for 29 days and I have walked 361,591 steps ... phew. I have 58,409 steps to go. Currently I am 111th out of 925 participants.
Since my last update I have crossed Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Romania, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzogovinia, the Adriatic (don't ask) and tonight I am in Lanciano in Italy. Just to give you an overview as to how hard this is - a normal day of walking back and fore to work and around work and my flat gives me 6,000 steps .... so I have to make up between 4,000 and 6,500 steps a day by either walking outside or round and round my apartment (god do I get dizzy). Why am I doing this? To keep fit AND to raise money for my favourite cat charity - http:// All I ask is that, even if you aren't keen on cats - sponsor me as a friend for something I am passionate about. During the 4 years I lived in Corfu I got very involved in the cat charity ... for no other reason than you could not escape the plight of the poor cats. They were everywhere and it wasn't their fault - breeding is instinctive. They were seen as vermin by the Greek locals. They didn't have the money to have them sterilized and culling was out of the question as the Greek vets will not put down a healthy animal!!! Without managing 2 cats become 8, 8 become 20, 20 become 40 and so on ... not rocket science. The cats would get poisoned and kittens found were put in the bins!!! Sorry but this is how it was and will be again if we dont try and keep the numbers down. Everyone who helps AAWF has worked so hard to keep the numbers down but with the present economic climate things will get worse again without donations to the charity... so please support me ... every £1 counts xxx |

Interesting to see the update Jess, where are you now?
We just got back from Kefalonia on Monday, had a lovely time, I have wanted to go there for a long time.
But I missed Corfu and seeing my foster cats! Hope to get to Corfu late September.
I will do a donation later in the week.
Good luck with the rest of the walk, I now have a picture in my head of you going round your flat in circles!

The fitbug walk from Beijing to London officially finished yesterday.
I finished on the 10/6/12 in 122nd place out of 940 competitors!
It took me 24 days, 440,000 steps, around 250kms and I burnt off 18,583 calories.
Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored me - I know AAWF will be so grateful for the donations - I will let you all know how much I raised as soon as I have the total ... but it isn't too late to sponsor me
