Anybody know if I hired a boat from Aghios Stefanos I could take it out to the island of Mathraki, last time we went to Paleokastritsa, but Mathraki seems closer.

I am sure you should be able to do that if you have experience of handling boats and choose settled weather.  Get in touch with San Stefano Travel http://www.san-stefano.gr.

I think the island lies about 7 kms offshore across open water. Bear in mind that on some days a strong breeze can develop after mid-day for the return journey especially when there is hot weather over the mainland so caution must be exercised. The route to Paleo hugs the coast so is safer.

Thanks For The Reply

This will be the 5th time we have hired a boat, I want someware else to go!Smile If we dont go via boat hire, I have seen on the Mathraki website that a boat goes from Ag. Stefanos a few times a week, do you or anyone else have any idea of prices.

The reason I want to go is that it seems like a nice little island that looks like it can be explored in a day!

Thanks

The Travel agent mentioned above does a combined trip from Agios Stefanos to Mathraki and Othoni every Friday for 30euros according to the web-site.

Contact them for more details.

Also if it appeals and you can get there,  the Sunfun Club water sports at Agios Georgios do a BBQ trip from Agios Georgios to Mathraki for 35euros per person. http://sunfunclub.blogspot.co.uk/
