Well we got back last Friday after our week in Corfu Town. We got wet on the Thursday, never seen rain like it!! However we went to Rouvas for our second meal and the lovely gentleman who looked after us, gave me a hug and it put all the negative thoughts behind me with his very warm welcome along with some paper napkins to try and dry me out!!! We loved it there and the food which was very reasonably priced. Had to be our favourite.
Had a good burger too at TTitovootikies (as near as I can get it) at the bottom of one of the shopping rows near NIK THEOTOKI. Home made cheeseburger and very tasty. Very friendly staff too.
We liked SM bistro as they were very caring and kept us dry and we had a really nice meal there which was made by the Mother of the gentleman who served us. He also told his daughter to look out for us and they treated us very well each time we went there.
Also went to Bougainvillea in the Town Hall Square and they too were very caring and we enjoyed our meals too. They were very understanding when I was feeling a bit under the weather and had to leave after we had ordered our drinks and we went back the next day to pay for the drinks and apologised for our hasty exit. I felt much better the next day thankfully nothing to do with them I hasten to add!!!
All in all we enjoyed the old town and the lovely buildings and went up both the forts.
The Greek people made us very welcome as always.
We also enjoyed our icecream at Muka Muka near the Liston. A very nice gentleman again spoiled us on every visit.
We got no bites from the mozzies thankfully.
A lovely week and thanks to all those lovely people who always answered "but of course" whenever we asked for something. If only the Brits were so helpful when we eat out here.
Thank you for more lovely memories. xx
Andrea

Must have been the same period the cruise ship we were on was in there.  We had a lovely day, did some shopping, found M & S (lol) and had an amazing lunch there.  We will hopefully have a couple of days in there next year en route to Benitses

Andrea, does this mean that you're going to be doing the same as us next year and having a few nights in Corfu Town before heading off to Paxos?  Glad you enjoyed your stay, it's become an essential part of our holiday now - like having two different holidays for the price of one!
I wasn't lost - I was just taking an interesting detour!

Corfu Town falls into your heart once and leaves forever. We had one night stay in the town en route to Kassiopi and loved it's streets, buildings, it's atmosphere. On the last evening of our holidays we decided to make a cruise to the town: to have a look at the New Fortress and to "shop-till-you-drop" thenSmile When we stepped on the quay we felt like returned home again! The old town is pretty small so it seems you've seen everything already, but it's so diverse that you always can find some new details in familiar sights. Then we luckily had an hour before bus to airport to chill out in the bar at San Rocco square. When the pathetic moment of plane take-off came, my girl even criedCry Parting with Corfu is a hard trial indeed...

Elaine you have got it right. We are sorely tempted to do exactly as you say!! Paxos still pulls us back although we did enjoy Corfu Town. To have a couple of nights there and then head off to Paxos is heaven sent. We keep saying we must get on with some decorating instead of going on these holidays!!! The decorating is still awaiting our reluctant hands.Embarrassed

Andrea, I used to work with someone who was as addicted to holidays as I am and as you sound like you are.  She always used to say that in fifty years time, when she and her husband were sitting in their rocking chairs reminiscing, she'd much rather be remembering the lovely holidays they'd had than the new kitchen units or wallpaper!  Definitely a woman after my own heart Clap
