We are organising renewing our wedding vows next year and hope to stay in Kalami in August? We normally visit in June please could anyone let us know just how crowded Kalami gets in August as we are worried it will be really busy?
Many Thanks

Hi Hils Bils
I'm sorry you haven't had an answer yet. I've never been in August either. I don't like to see a Kalami question go unanswered so I'm sticking my tuppenceworth in. I'm told that Kalami has accommodation for around 800 guests and enjoys high occupancy rates for most of the season so I'd guess that there wouldn't necessarily be significantly more people but there may be a different demographic mix - more families with school age children and more students/young adults.
I hope someone who has been in August answers your question soon.
Hope it works out for you, Deedee

Kalami is busier in August mainly due to families. You have to be a little more organised as the restaurants are busy and ideally should be booked in advance. As Deedee says it is due to the mix being more families than couples (families do tend to stay local). When we last visited in early July we were told most accomodation was full but it still felt fairly quiet - I think couples tend to venture out and explore the island more which eases the impact in Kalami. If you are used to June you will see a difference!! |

It never SEEMS busy, even if a lot of people are staying there. Daytimes are quiet, and although the tavernas are quite busy in the evenings, the place doesn't exude an air of 'busy-ness, with people thronging the street(s) or anything like that. It's not that kind of place.Go for it! |

We have stayed in August and the only noticeable differences are the beach is busier, when we were there there were quiet a few large Italian family groups and there seems to be more day trippers using the beach. Also, the restaurants are busier and you can be wise to book.
Hope this helps. |
