Hiya, We are thinking about booking a short break to Athens at the end of November. Just wondered if anyone could give me a general idea of food and drink prices (nothing fancy just your average Taverna/ Gyro takeaway/bar), and is Plaka the best area?

I've had 2 short breaks in Athens and stayed in 2 areas, Plaka and Psiri. At night Psiri is bursting with local people, Tavenas and cafe are full and there are some good clubs for live Greek music.
 
Might be an idea to look at the link below, the ulimate guide to Athens in my opinion, where you will find hidden gems off the tourist track.

All booked up! Staying in the middle of Plaka for 3 nights, even earmarked a couple of Tavernas.
