And yes it is the only bank in Acharavi. There are other ATMs in the town though.

Thanks again Barrie and Davyboy. Not long now, hope the weather picks up but hay-ho we will still be in Corfu. Looking forward to renewing acquaintances in Tet-A-Tet, Acharavi Park, Woody's and Faros as well as trying out the new taverna and some that we have not yet made it too.

Hi folks, we are coming to Acharavi in July, and this year we are going to use the ATM,s as we don't want to carry to much cash, what charges do the banks take on saying withdrawing 100 euros from the ATM?

Barry if you google 'Alpha Bank exhange rates' you will get an up to date figure but obviously this is variable. Personally on £300 I don't think you will make a huge amount by shopping around so may be better to just look for convenience. If you use the cashpoint to withdraw on a debit card you should not lose out - just avoid using a credit card for cash.

Sue thank you for your reply. Its our son who was going to take his £ 's and change them over there. He may be better keeping it in his bank and withdrawing from the ATM.

Barrie, if he does bring sterling with him, send him to Sue at Castaway travel, she gives bank rate less a little comission of course.
It would take him half his holiday to change it at the bank and they too charge a comission.

Hi

Slightly off topic, but I've just used a company called Currency Exchange Corporation Ltd -see www.cecltd.com to get Euros.  Exchange rate given this morning was 1.2394/£ and no commision. Order on-line and collect from the branch (if there's one near you).

With regards to CEC above, it appears that you get an extra 1 cent (well almost!) if you pre-book your currency via their website before picking it up.

The "walk in rate" tday was 1.23/£ whereas, via the website, I got 1.2394/£
