Sidami
Don't you think life would be dull if we all liked the same things?
For instance, I like Peroulades, but dislike The Strip in Sidari-although many people love it.

Depends what kind of holiday you're looking for.

The first time we went to Corfu we stayed in Kalami. About an hour after we arrived we said to each other, we could live here!

We have now lived here in Corfu full time for just over 10 years. That's the sort of pull the place had.

Times are difficult for the country now but it's still a great place to be!Big smileBig smile

I will be going to Kalami for the first time next week and staying in a studio apartmentt at Asonitis.
Can anyone who knows Asonitis Apartments advise which apartment block to request if we want to avoid too much noise late at night from the bar and also to avoid too much of an uphill hike as I understand the apartments at the top are a bit of a climb.  Also do all of the apartments have good views.

Thanks

The higher the block number the quieter it gets, however the music is (normally!!Big smile) turned down after midnight.  As for climbing, blocks up to four are covered by the lift, all the blocks have excellent sea views.

Canarydave is right, the higher up you go the quieter it gets but come 12-12.30 all the entertainment ceases. The higher floors, definitely 5&6 give views right across to Corfu town. The bus to Corfu town takes about an hour and the cost is about €4 each I think but as the wife normally pays I can't be 100% certain. Forgive the bit of self publicity here but I've written a book called Kalami, Where the Sea Shrugs its Shoulders. I've written about the views and scenery of Kalami and the village in general. It may give you more of an insight into the village before you visit. Hopefully it will inspire you to give it a try.

About an hour by bus.  Buses are air conditioned and you'll probably get a seat if you're getting on at Kalami (i.e on the road above the resort) just be aware that the bus will not necessarily stop taking more passengers on when the seats are full.

Boat can be anywhere from 15 mins to an hour depending where you book/which boat you book.  Last year the fast boat was €20 per person.   Evening trip to Corfu town by boat is a very pleasant experience.  The boat departs from Kassiopi for that.  You can book it in Kalami and the price will include transport to and from Kassiopi.

Haven't tried it myself but there's also an excursion to Corfu town via coach.  Will cost more than the local bus but less than the boat.

Are we there yet?
We've been and come back but we're going again.
