Thanks Graham.
I've just tried again and can now see 6 photos of new reception on their 'wall'.
I have been accepted as a 'friend' since my earlier attempt so I don't know if that has made the difference but I could see lot of other photos before, just not the reception ones. Perhaps it was that I just didn't wait long enough for them to load.
Anyway, I've seen them now and it looks stunning!

Why do you all go back to AA just out of interest?
We went there last year in September ...yes it was very nice but very expensive to eat out in that area, I have been to better islands in Greece that are a lot cheaper to eat out, I didn't find a lot there to do unless you hired a car. Why do you all also go on about the decor and what difference there is to AA. After all you don't spend a lot of time in the bar do you???lols

Sidami,
Many people return again and again to he A&A because they love the place and it gives good value for money but of course you know this as you have been there. The A&A is also probably the cheapest place around this area and as cheap as most tourist placs around Corfu to eat but of course you also know this as you have been there. You also mention the bar but the comments are about the reception area which is across the road from the bar but you know this as you have been there?? No, there is not a lot to do other than relax, eat and drink in the quality tavernas in the area but for many the peace and quiet and fine food is what they go for.
It sounds like you do not like this type of holiday so it's better for you to stick to the busier more commercialised resorts where there is always some entertainment available.
Kalami, along with most other places on the N/E coast, is a sleepy, small village and I hope it remains so.

I totally respect you comments, each to his (or her) own. Not everyone likes the same things, that is being human. We go back to the Adonis and Asonitis each year for many reasons, among which are: we love Kalami, a quiet charming village: we love the views from the room balconies, waking up and taking in the view on the first morning is special: we love the people, we have made many friends for life in Kalami, both holidaymakers and locals (and Woody): we love the tavernas which we feel are excellent: we love the fact there is 'little to do', suits us just fine: we go on about the decor etc as we regard the place itself as a friend and talking about it makes us feel we are there: I could go on.... |

For us, there are many reasons we keep going back and we have been to several Greek islands and for us none compare to Kalami.
- the setting is beautiful - the people are warm, friendly and want you to enjoy your holiday - several of the tavernas in our opinion are a notch above your typical tourist fare and we would rather pay more and enjoy, than less and be disappointed as we have been on many occasions in other places - it is quiet and peaceful and there are no British pubs, McDonalds, clubs, etc, etc - you can hire a speedboat and see the north east coast in the best way possible for us - the view from the balcony is stunning Most of all, it ticks all our boxes for a perfect holiday. Hope this helps. Each to their own! |

Kalami is such a welcoming friendly place where I feel totally safe.
It has taken me many years, and quite a few countries to find such a place where you can return year in year out and still be able to catch up with the locals who I now feel are my friends.
No fast food chains, just great Greek food and service. Bliss!!

We couldn't have put it any better than the previous handful of posts.
We like Kalami for its simplicity and unobstructed life. It's a very peaceful place where time resorts back to the individual and not the masses. Not to mention the numerous Greek and British friends we have encountered during our 21 years of visiting with lots becoming firm friends. I'm not knocking other places or areas but we know where our heart lies.
See you all in a week and a half.

Hi Stevroz
I would like to help you but I'm still not sure why I couldn't see them to start with.
My problem is that now I'm hooked on facebook. I've just been looking at a photo of my last day at school on an old schoolmate's profile. It was 1982! I need to upload a photo of myself to my profile. Thank you to Elliemay, MCH, Bruce and Cocktails & Dreams for being amongst my first facebook friends.

Wow! Isn't it amazing how two people can read the same post and read completely different intent into it!
Sidami asked a question and as far as I can see has received several courteous and considered replies.

We went to Kalami and stayed at A & A almost 3 years ago but had to return home after a couple of days due to a family breavement.
We've wanted to return ever since as we didn't get to do any of the things we planned.
Finally I have just booked to return next year and can't wait
As others have said the views are fantastic and sitting at a taverna right on the beach watching the boats was special.

Hi,
We have stayed at the A&A a couple of times and when I saw the photos of it, I thought that it was not for me. Big complex!! Ugh. Could not have been more wrong, although it has lots of apartments it is never really that busy anywhere. The staff are all superb!!! I can well understand why so many people return there as it is so relaxing. Kalami is a very quiet bay, but you are in the middle of all that is going on on the NE coast too. Not too far to go anywhere else if you so wish. Many people don't though as they can just chill out and relax. What more could you really ask for?

I totally agree with all the other posts- We have been to many different places including other Greek islands and even Sidari twice!
But then we discovered Kalami- one look at that bay and you are drawn like a magnet!! All you have to do is chill and relax-simple The best 5 holidays we have ever had- a boat for the day- a car for 3 days- speedboat to Corfu town- walks to Agni,Koulura, etc Checking out whose on the big boats! Absolutley love it- and then eating your meals Shirley Valentine style at night- magical. The superb view from your balcony- brilliant

The joy of Kalami to Steph and myself is the beautiful bay, the laid back atmosphere of the A&A and all the staff and the fact that there's nothing more to think about other than which taverna to dine in at night. That's the hardest decision to make. On the beach, Matellas or the balcony of Dimitris. We're both in the rat race back home so going to Kalami and totally switch off is total bliss to us. Everyone to there own is what I say. We've all got our own idea of paradise. Roll on September 14

Thanks for that, we are going 22nd June but were told that the buses were not very reliable to get back from Corfu Town. Guess we just have to chance it, they dont seem to run very long during the day.

Why not consider one of the boat trips to Corfu Town, you have the choice of going for the day/afternoon/evening. There are trips by various operators most days, they can be booked at the travel offices in Kalami, and most are reasonably priced.
