Starting to get the holiday feeling. Not long now before our early morning trip to Gatport Airwick. Not doing the overnight hotel this year, gone back to the park and minibus at Copthorne.
Try to get a bit of sleep in the armchair then off at about 1.00am for our 6.40am flight.
It's all a bit the same untill you get to Corfu and get down to the Harbour. Two or three nice Tavernas about half a mile down along the front for lunch then the Hydrofoil and over to Gaios.
Babbis with his clipboard ticks you off, points to your car then off you go. No paperwork, no hastle, it's Paxos!
Drop the cases etc off at The Old Vinyard then down the road into Loggos. That is the time when we really feel that our holiday has started. Nice cool beer and 'negotiations' at the Roxi Bar for our boat.

(Looking forward to seeing the Dunkirk Little Ships on the Thames for the Jubillee. But always makes me feel quite emotional when I see them)

I really am very jealous Malcy.  I arrived home an hour ago, having walked past Roxi to a taxi for the 7.00 a.m. hydrofoil this morning.  Salford has its charms of course, but that won't stop me from counting the days until September.

Have a wonderful, wonderful time.  I know you shall.  And in the meantime, enjoy (if thats the right word) the little ships.  If they didn't stir emotion, I would suggest that there would be something very wrong!

Yiassou.

Happy days Malcy Tongue, 3 weeks today until we arrive in paradise
I'll keep a look out for you on the high seas and we can have a beer
Love the idea of price negotiation when he knows how much you want the boat
Have a safe and pleasant trip

Jeff

Stop it Malcy, some of us have agaes to wait yet!!

I only saw an article about applying to join the river pagent on the eveing of the closing date. It was a shame it was too late as our Guide narrowboat could have had the chance to take part. Not sure how we would have got it from Yorkshire though.

Have a great time next week. Say hello to my Sister if you call into Lakka, and Mum is there too when you are.

Tina - Sam    Did I mention I'm going to Paxos soonEvil Smile  Sorry, can't help it.
Will look out for your sister Tina.

I suppose 'negotiate' might be a bit over the top Jeff. The boats at Roxi are the Father's domain (Someone remind me of his name please) So we sit down and I sugest a price, he comes up with another figure which I agree toErmm  To be fair he did last year at the same price as 2010 but I had to swear to secrecy.

Aaah, enough to make anyone interested in boats and water have a lump in their throats Malcy! Not easy in that wind and rain (shame about some of the silly commentators).

Have a great holiday Smile

Tina - What a pitty with the weather but the last part with the choir on top of the boat in the rain was lovely. I was disapointed with the coverage. So looked forward to seeing the Little Ships but they hardly got a mention. Showed a Fishermans choir as some went by and Alex Jones on Hollywood.

Thought the guy steering the Royal Barge did a fantastic job. Similar I suppose to myself mooring up at the Roxy Bar Clap!!!

Will look out for your sister in Loggos. Starting to get the holiday feeling but have two hectic days left at work. Do people do it on purpose? When you are trying to clear everything up, more and more crops up to do.

Yes, I did shout at the TV a few times!! What was the point of some of the many 'reporters'. What was cooking in the rain and the silly chat with the comedians etc. We wanted to see the boats, not egos. I was interested in the narrowboats as our Guide County has one, but the rain was pelting by then, and they were busy filming some silly bits too.

Loved the perfect sideways steering in and out of the moorings by the Royal Barge, rather like me on the Rochdale Canal.

I was looking forward to seeing the horse one too, but a power cut intervened. Will have to look on iplayer.

2 more sleeps for me! We get in at 11 a.m. on Wednesday and cannot wait. So excited to be going once again. After so many years we still love it, all of it, every bit of it! The weather has been bad recently but hopefully it will settle down now so we can enjoy all that Paxos has to offer. Happy hols everyone! JennyB

We arrive  at 11.45am on Friday for the 7th time. Never thought I would ever go back to the same place so often. But then we found Paxos!
14 day weather forecast not too bad. 31 next weekend dropping down to 29/30 next week with 80% sun and 2 to 3 wind. I can live with that after the weather over here.

Got a messgae from Mum to say they were sat outside Romantica watching the sunset with a glass of wine last night, jealous??? You bet I am. And best of all her friend is loving it and looking forward to spending 2 weeks doing nothing much at all.Tongue

Just thinking about Malcy now, he'll be busy trying to decide where to eat and get a glance of a certain young lady whilst sauntering along. Wonder if he has had the boat out yet?

13 weeks for me and 14 for you Tina. Soon be there! Beer

I'm sure Malcy is having a ball ..on land and sea!!

Oh dear please NOT a Bill & Ben hat! They only cover up bald heads.. and noses and chins still get burnt! I don't have any bald spots but do have a big nose.. well it must be big because its always getting burnt..so BIGGER the better!! Big smile

We always visit the Romantica once or twice during our stay but I do find one member of "staff" to be a bit miserable and so puts us off going. I once had an Ouzo there and asked for it without water. She bought it to the table and it had been drowned! After taking a sip and deciding that the drink was ruined and I did not want it I called her over and explained nicely that it wasn't what I had ordered. After arguing with me that I had ordered water she exchanged it slapping the replacement on the table. She then spent the rest of the evening with a face like a slapped backside slamming everyones drinks down!!! Nice spot to have a drink though!

ps I like my ouzo on the rocks. But I like to drink it fairly quick before all the ice melts! Many years ago I spent a night drinking them like this and boy was I bad! Never have I been so hungover the next day! Hence now I never have more than 2 in a row! Wacko
